Hello all,

I've been lurking on this board for a few months now.  I've been overweight since gaining the "freshman 15" in college and have steadily gained weight since then.  In the last 4 years I have lost and gained over 100 pounds twice.  After a lot of soul searching, I finally came to the realization that I have done all that I can do on my own, I have decided to have WLS.  I met with my surgeon on Aug 25th and just got insurance approval.  I'll be having surgery on Nov. 29th.  I'm very excited to get moving on this journey and can not wait to get the surgery done.  Looking forward to sharing my triumphs and tribulations here with all of you!

Welcome to this forum.  I too was like you lose and gain back over and over.  This was the best decision ever.  The folks on this forum are amazing.  Best of luck

Hi!

Like you, I am also a newbie on this board.  I actually found it this morning.  I am scheduled for my VSG in March 2017.  I got my approval from my insurance on Monday (great news!), but need to save up leave time, that is why I opted to move it out.  I have continued to gain weight throughout my adult life, and after many diets (with some weight loss, but more weight gain after I quit them), I decided to look at WLS to assist with my weight loss journey.  I have Osteoarthritis in both knees, and looking forward to the day (as I am sure my joints are too!) that I can walk farther without pain!

I am also looking forward to sharing my weight loss journey and supporting those on their journey as well.

Yay for you.  March will be here before you know it!  I also have osteoarthritis in both knees and boy does it suck.  I exercise 3-4 times a week and my knees really limit what I can do and they hurt a lot!  I'm hoping that weight loss will alleviate some of the knee pain.

I have to lose 10 pounds before surgery so that's what I'm working on now.  I've need to find exercises that I like to do that don't aggravate my knees, but I don't like to swim.

I excited to know that this time next year I'll be hiking and biking with more energy and less knee pain.

Good luck to you!
