Finally starting to notice my weight loss at 2 months!

Hey everyone, I thought I would share some two-month NSVs (Non-Scale Victories) since there are many fresh post-ops and excited pre-ops on the board lately. I know I've complained about slow weight loss, but it's picked up these past couple weeks. Slow and steady wins the race and I sure as hell am going to take this to the end!

Stats: 5'4'', 35 years old. HW: 273.9  SW: 252.4 CW: 225-ish (it's hard because scales differ)

Anyway, sweating. Sweating was the most disgusting part of being morbidly obese. I couldn't get through a work shift without having wet underclothes. I would avoid sitting on chairs sometimes because I just felt wet. I know, gross. Well, after losing 48-ish lbs, I don't sweat as much. I can get through a busy day of work, even when I'm scrubbed in under the hot lights or wearing hot, heavy lead and come out dry. I can walk my dog and not have to hop in the shower immediately after. I could actually go out after work and not have to go home and clean up first. It's a life-changing NSV.

My feet don't hurt as much! Same goes for my ankles and knees. I used to limp after work. Now it's so much better.

I'm a better worker. I can move faster, squeeze into tighter spaces without breaking sterility, scrub in without my butt sticking out of my gown, fit into the gowns better, actually fit into the lead aprons that we have, and fit into the smaller MRI scrubs we have (I'm on the neuro team and we sometimes do cranis down in MRI, and we have to wear their scrubs. They run small and I was barely squeezing in to the largest size before).

I actually have the desire and energy to hang out with other humans. I'm going to a family function for the first time in years this weekend. I'm going to another gathering the next day. I used to avoid going out because I had nothing to wear, I was tired, and I wanted to stay in and feel sorry for myself. I've avoided so many weddings and funerals because I was fat. It's sad, really.

I got hit on. Twice! This hasn't happened in so long. I mean, I haven't even been out on a date since the Bush administration, let alone gotten any (pun absolutely intended). I'm not ready for it, but it's a huge change and maybe I will actually try to date again someday.

Sorry it's so long! What are your favorite NSVs? I'd love to hear them.

One of my favorite NSVs is that I DO sweat - and I look forward to it!  I love to exercise now.  Physical exertion is now something that makes me happy, and sweat is proof of that :)

I hear you! Exercise is starting to feel better even though I'm still a big girl. I just love that I don't sweat doing basically nothing, like walking across the room or bending over anymore.

Yes :)  It's sort of like aches and pains - prior to weight loss I pretty much always ached and was in pain just because I existed.  Now when I have aches and pains it's because I've EARNED them.  Totally different :)

Ditto to this! I used to feel like a sweaty beast when I was heavy. I LOVE not feeling that way. If anything, now I'm always too cold! Quite a change!

Going from a size 8x to 2x.  It is amazing how wonderful it is to be able to go the store and buy clothes.  Revolutionary, quite honestly.  I spent most of my adult life being too large and having to buy things online.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I listened to a This American Life yesterday with the title of "Tell me I'm fat" and the third act was a woman talking about the different between people who are "Lane Bryant Fat" and those who are morbidly obese.  It was really fascinating.  A lot of what she said really resonated with me.  The entire episode was fantastic.  The second act was a woman named Elna and her story really felt like a cautionary tale to me.

Anyway.. yes.  Going from 8x to 2x is a HUGE difference in quality of life.  Just being able to go to Lane Bryant.  Sure, it's only 1 store, but it's better than no stores.
