12 days out

Looking for a little insight from my OH buddies...  As you know,  I am 12 days out from surgery. I am just trying to reassure myself that I'm not going anything wrong or adverse. I'm on pureed foods. An example typical day will look like:

B- 1 scrambled egg (all or most I can finish)

S- 4 oz protein shake with skim plus

L- 1/2 cup pureed cream soup or some 1/2 cup pureed protein

S- 4oz protein shake with skim plus

D- 1/2 cup pureed grilled chicken in some non chunky sauce (tomato or light cream soup sauce) pureed together til smooth

S-4 oz protein shake with skim plus.

I am getting at least 64 oz of water in per day,  (yesterday I got 99oz!)

Nothingin between,  no snacking,  nothing but what you see. No discomfort while eating  just stop when I feel I've had enough or just finish the 4oz and don't eat again until the next shake or meal.

I have not lost anything more since I went onto pureed foods.

Should I be dialing the 4oz (1/2 cup) down to 1/4 cup or something? Or am I doing everything right and just sit back and keep on this track? As I said earlier this week, I feel things are going very easy eating and drinking wise (maybe too easy)  for me and I just want some input if you'd be so kind.  Thanks!

I pretty much was eating like this.  Smaller amounts and more liquids because I had issues with the sleeve at first.  The only difference was I ate more greek yogurt (plain, no fruit chunks) and sometimes cottage cheese well-chewed.  I also used Fairlife milk instead of regular skim (extra protein, half the sugar) and now I use almond milk.  Also, be sure you are eating very slowly.

As for dialing the liquid down, as long as you are sipping slowly and consistently it's not an issue.  I don't think I drank several ounces at once for some time.  I never had issues drinking, but solid proteins, even pureed, were very hard on my stomach for quite some time.  (Beef was the first protein I could easily tolerate.  I wasn't able to eat chicken or eggs much later - usually it's the reverse.)

I could have drunk quite a lot at once very easily early out.  I was more cautious than that, though.  I still don't have restriction over a year out.  I'm having issues with a hernia and GERD though, so my case is a bit atypical.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Thanks. Sorry you're going through that now! Yea,  I mean I sip slow all day long, only water,  and I have mostly ended up over 64 oz per day just consistently sipping. I don't drink with meals. I stop 15-20 prior and don't drin****il 45-1hr after I eat. I'm taking about 30-45 mins to finish the half cup of food. I just wanna make sure I'm not doing anything wrong and I'm good.

OK great! And congratulations on your surgery and journey. I just feel like I'm doing everything I'm supposed to,  I'm following the plan, but feel like something is wrong or missing.

After my first week after surgery I had a 22 day stall. It's probably nothing you are doing. Your body is adjusting. This is where the mental part of the surgery starts. Don't stress and stop weighing so often. The scale has been my enemy LOL!

I'm not stressing, lol.  I just wanna make sure since everything is going down the hatch so effortlessly and 4 oz of food, soup and almost 100 oz of water a day is not causing any issues,  that I shouldn't be worried I'm taking in too much.

I think I'm gonna go with the once a month weigh-in approach. I probably won't have these questions then. LOL

I'd recommend changing your relationship with the number on the scale instead.  Try to see it as a data point instead of something to obsess over and something that rules your happiness or other emotions.

For me, this meant using a Wifi scale and finding a website called trendweight.com.  It's amazing and really helps me to see trending data instead of individual numbers that can make or break my life.  I highly recommend it.
