What do your doctors say about ibuprofen? I am four years out of surgery and getting plastics on Thursday. I haven't taken anything but Tylenol since my VSG four years ago. How do y'alls doctors feel about Advil, Motrin or Aleve? I was told never to take them again.

The ASMBS says no NSAIDs after any weight loss surgery. So does my surgeon.

Mine said not for several months post-op and then very rarely. His preference is Tylenol (which has never worked for me).

I used to be in the same camp - the "tylenol never worked for me" one. But I find now that it's all I can take, it's definitely better than nothing!

I get migraines and used to think advil was all that would ease it. I have gotten used to tylenol and it seems to work aboit as well as advil. I think it is just an adjustment after being uses to advil

Toradol actually carries a similar risk of ulcers, like NSAIDs. (Tramadol, however, is spiffy.)

My surgeon gave it to us post surgery. I have an Rx for migraines. I use it very rarely. 10mg of that beats 800mg ibuprofen fer sure.

An amusing side note about toradol is that the pill form can cause hallucinations while the injection doesn't. (I'm one of the lucky ones who hallucinates. This was suboptimal when I had it for a kidney stone in high school.)
