2 weeks until surgery! I have been reading a lot here about constipation (which I would like to avoid)!! I have my pre-op tomorrow but thought I would ask you guys. I currently take 4 capsules of magnesium each day, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. They are great to keep me regular and to help me sleep. Did anyone do liquid because we can't take pills for a while?

The ASMBS has no issues with pills immediately post-op. Even then, I stuck to small ones just in case.

I don't have a liquid recommendation, but I buy magnesium citrate powder from Amazon - the seller is "bulk supplements." I add 1/2 tsp to my morning shake. Not sure if it helps with sleep or constipation. I also add Miralax to my morning shake.

I took extra strength Tylenol the day after surgery (provided by the nurse at my center). So I think you should be fine to swallow those, but you will want to check with your surgeon.

Than you Erin, I will check. I do get a little freaked when I read about people getting pills stuck!
