I had surgery almost 24 hours ago and am having reflux, the expected gas and incision pains, and a general feeling of not being my usual strong self. How long until you felt comfortable after your VSG?

Just a few days... I went back to work on day 6 and I was fine.

I had my surgery last Thursday and went back for a half day at my desk job on Monday/Tuesday and then I am back now full time. It took the better part of the weekend, and on Monday I was relatively weak. I think I was like 75% back by Sunday afternoon. I had some reflux my first 2 days, but now I have been taking prilosec and I think that problem is handled for the moment. No issues since Sunday really.

By the end of a week, the vast majority of us are going about our lives and doing just fine. But most of us feel more tired than usual, and easily worn out, for several weeks. Some for months. You'll be napping more often, in all likelihood.

"Normal" is hard to define.

Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium? Walking will help with the gas, try to walk as much as possible.

You just had major surgery, the anesthesia is still wearing off. It'll take time to feel normal again. But it will happen sometime between now and two weeks from now.

It was a good six weeks before I felt like myself again. I was in a brain fog for at least 4 of those weeks.

After about a week and a half I felt comfortable, no pain but it really took at least 6 weeks for me to feel myself and maybe even closer to the 3 month mark that I am at now to be 100%. Don't get me wrong, I was completely functional and most people wouldn't and didn't notice anything after the second week but I just generally lacked energy. And really couldn't think that clearly. But I mmanaged to get through my day to day activities. Eating became easier at about week 3.
