Hello, I wanted to learn more about my pre op & post op diet.

Diets can be highly variable between surgical practices, so that is your best source of information. Online, there will be no end of people telling you what you "should" be doing.

Pre-op diets can vary from nothing at all other than no food or drink after midnight the day before to months of liquids only. Post-op will usually, but not always, start with a liquid phase and transition at some rate toward real food - at a month out some will still be on liquids while others will be having steak. So check with the specific practice that you are using or considering and see what their policies are - they will usually have something on their website.

There is a daily menu thread, take a look at that to see what people are eating post-op.

Pre-op diets vary between surgeons. Some require a liquid pre-op diet to shrink the liver, others don't. Your best bet is to ask your surgeon directly.

The forums are a great source of information regarding what to expect afterwards. Browse through the old posts for more info.

Diets vary based on the surgeon, so ask your surgeon what their guidelines are.

Pre-op tends to be some days of liquids or liquids plus a protein forward meal each day.

Post-op tends to be a progression from liquids to pureed foods to soft foods to the forever diet.

The forever diet tends to be protein forward and low carb.
