  • My surgery was Dec 7, 2016 and I have lost 33 pounds. I am feeling scared and discouraged. I have heard of others at 4 months post op who have lost double the weight that I have. Please offer qords of advice or encouragement.

What, exactly, are you eating each day? Please give us an example of your daily meals.

Are you tracking/measuring everything you put into your mouth using something like MyFitnessPal?

Well...33 pounds is a lot of fat...

Have you discussed this with your surgeon's staff?

How much did you weigh to start? How many grams of protein? Carbs?

Do you exercise? If you do you might be gaining muscle as you lose fat. They taking g your measurement once a month.

Well ... how tall are you? how much weight do you need to lose to get to a normal weight? (according to the BMI charts ... not your goal weight)

Let's compare a person who is 5 foot tall to someone that is 6 foot tall, their starting weights were 180 and 260 .. both are a BMI of 35. Both get the surgery and then lose 33 pounds (just like you) the person who is 5 feet tall is no longer obese with a BMI of 29 .. the person who is 6 feet tall is still obese with a BMI of 31. In order for the taller person to get the same results as the smaller person they would have to lose 45 pounds instead of 33. As you well know 9 pounds of fat is nothing to sneeze at.

Finally .. everyone is different, for all we know the person that loses the weight slower could end up losing more in the long run because of all the different aspects of their genetics, their commitment, their diet habits .... and a multitude of all the things that make us who we are. Don't stress about it. Stick to your plan and even if you stall next week or next month try to stay positive.

Believe me, I know how you feel, I see other people that lose gobs of weight early on and I'm sitting here with "just" a 25 pound loss in 2 months ... but then I remind myself that my best effort of dieting for 6 solid months of near constant hunger resulted in losing 30. I want the pounds to fly off faster, I want to know how much I'm going to end up weighing .. but no one has that answer. All any of us can do in this situation is to try our bes****ch what we put in out mouths. drink our water, take our vitamins and hope for the best.

The default setting on OH is set to filter adult content. Turn the filter off and you can see everything.

I your post, you had the words "best" and "watch" adjacent to each other. The OH software saw the last letter of best, and first three letters of watch, and saw a bad, bad word.

The letters are still there. I can see them, but I like living on the edge. Turn off your adult settings and you will see them too.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
