surgery was yesterday. Definitely more pain today with even tiny sips of water. I know it's early, but I'm doubting my decision.

Drinking is one of the worst issues early on. You have to drink to prevent dehydration, and can only manage a tiny sip at a time. And you have to drink no matter what, even tho you are not thirsty.

i struggle with drinking two weeks out but at least it's better. I can drink three sips. But from what I understand, after more time passes you will drink fairly normally.

The first few days are rough. And you have to go through it because you willingly decided to have someone cut out most of your stomach and it's not reversible.

It will get better. Only one of my incisions is an issue, I am able to have creamed soups, smooth yogurt. And you will lose weight and be healthier. Give yourself a little break emotionally. Put on Netflix. But drink all the time!

I'm 4 days post op...the first 2 were horrible! I was so nauseated that I could only handle water. Everyone kept telling me it gets better every day and it has. So far I've had 2 protein shakes today. Hang in there...you will feel better in a few days!

I am 20 days post op and having some struggles of my own. What I find best is to try to stay positive even though it's super difficult sometimes and remember why you did this. Follow your post op instructions and keep fighting! You got this.

I promise it gets easier! Hang in there and tackle it like it's your job.

Try different liquids and different temperatures. Hot tea or broth might work better than cold water, for example. Or lukewarm crystal light. Experiment until you find something that works.

And.. doubting your decision isn't super useful since you can't take it back now!

Great tip. Warm definitely feels better than cold.

Most people go through a period of buyer's remorse. WHAT DID I DO!!!!

For the next month or two, you will go through all the negatives of surgery and recovery. And you don't even have your old friend, food, to turn to for comfort.

But then you'll be healed, feeling better, and back to eating some things. And the weight will be coming off. You'll feel better. Look better. Looking forward to life. And you'll laugh at yourself for ever having regrets.

Hang in there.

Hi! I had my VSG last Tuesday (May 16). Hang in there. It gets much better quickly! Walking helped me a lot with pain.
