Ready to go to Insurance

I have finished all of my classes, done all of my tests, and as far as I know, everything is on its way to insurance. I am so nervous. What if I get approved? What if I don't get approved? Mainly what if I don't get approved. I am a little worried I have the BMI, but I do not have any health issues. Any advice while I play the waiting game?

I advise keeping as busy as possible! Distraction was the only thing that got me through the pre-op phases with my sanity intact.

The doctors office said it could take any where from 7 to 30 days for approval. I am thinking about all the things to do to stay busy and not think about it. I want this so bad. I am trying to stay positive. Yet, I keep thinking what if they say no? My advocate says they know how to deal with my insurance company so I am again holding fast to that.

If they say no you'll appeal, appeal, appeal. It'll suck, but people make it work. Fingers crossed!

The other worry will be when the authorization says "Authorization for Elective Surgery" and has a big paragraph about how the insurance company might not pay.

The good new is the legal mambo jumbo is that the surgery is elective because you don't have to volunteer to have it done, in like say heart bypass where you will die really soon if that procedure is not done. And the paragraph is that the insurance company knows what is normally billed and is not going to cover costs a doctor might try to slip in to pad the bill.

In my case I received the letter before I realized that the surgeon's office had submitted the request.

Good luck.
