Has anyone developed pancreatitis after vsg?

If yes what did it feel like? What made it worse? How long did it last? Did you use pain medication? Did you starve the pancreatitis?

Was there any other complications that you had? I have pancreatitis, GERD, MILD gastritis and narrowing of my incisura! I went in for RNY may 5/17 ended up with VSG.

Hi,

i worry that I have chronic pancreatitis, and I am going to my dr for some tests. My symptoms are:

Aching pain right under my rib cage in the center, which is right by my gallbladder removal incision.

gas

I ate a fried chicken one weekend and was sick for two weeks. Had horrible bowel movements, whi*****luded diarrhea with yellow bile in the water. Sorry for being graphic, but important to share.

mind you it might be the Metformin I am taking. I have had gallbladder issues for years. Had an upper GI and colonoscopy, and everything looked good.

my problem is that my drs are not running labs for my pancreatic enzyme levels. So when I go to the dr I am going to pray that she does extensive tests.

I think I have a problem with one of my bike ducts, which I believe was going on before I had my gallbladder removed.

What are your symptoms?

when did they start?

what tests have you had?

what were your results?

Sorry for the late reply I've been down and out with pain. My gallbladder was removed 3 yrs ago so all my pain is left side of abdomen from under breastbone all the way around to back of my ribs. It feels like something is contracting while being stabbed making it hard to breath.

Its been getting worse for the last 5 weeks.

I get my pancreas levels checked whenever i go to the hospital they range between 201 to 330. Normal i believe is in the 80s.

Ct scans are all normal. Xrays are fine. My scope shows I have mild gastritis. Mild GERD and a narrow incisura. No blockages.

I am doing a barium swallow july 14.

I'm generally dehydrated as i can't drink enough. Crackers and vitamin water are the only things that doesn't cause me more pain.

If i take my blood sugars regularly i know when an attack is coming as my fasting sugars sky rocket. Eg my norm in the morning is 5.6 when an attack is coming its over 7 and keeps goung higher

OK re: fasting numbers - I've been having this trouble for a couple of years. I told my endocrinologist that I believed I had pancreatitis because my fasting levels were 60 points higher than normal. He told me if it were pancreatitis I would be in the hospital.

when I feel like I am having an attack, my fasting numbers will be high as well.

Question: do you take insulin? If you do if you have pain, will taking a shot of insulin to bring your numbers down help to elleviate the pain?

also, what do the doctors think is causing this?

I do not take insulin. I'm suppose to take januvia and metaformin but i don't they make me dizzy as I'm not eating.

My doctor says my vsg surgery most likely caused my pancrease issues. As i had no issues before my surgery.

I am trying to see if i can get a second opinion on how to treat my pancreas. I was in so much pain yesterday night i just can't cope.

How are you feeling?

Did you ever get treated for your pancreatitis?

All they did was give me pain meds to make me comfortable but i still have attacks. Friday was bad so I'm waiting on surgeons office to call back.
