Day 2 of Liquid Diet - This is SO hard!

I am on day 2 of my 10 day liquid diet, and I am already really struggling.

I am so hungry and the only thing that seems to help is sleeping, which I obviously can't do at work.

Does anyone have any advice for getting through the rest of these 8 days? Will it get better?

I am on day seven of my liquid diet. I can promise you, it DOES get better! Are you reaching for and consuming a protein drink or a warm cup of broth EVERY two to three hours? That's my trick - I cannot let myself get hangry. I literally have another protein shake or cup of broth every few hours and I'm guzzling water every free moment. Basically, I spend my day either in the bathroom, walking back and forth from it, or drinking another protein shake. I save my jell-o and popsicles for 'dessert' at home. Stay strong!

My obstacles are moving out of my way; my path is carved towards greatness

Day 3 is the worst. After day 5 you start feeling pretty darn normal. It seriously does get better, it's only 10 days, you'll be fine.

Hang in there! You will get through the liquid phase. It is super challenging but if I can do it, you can do it. I am almost 8 months out and it is now a distant memory. Your hard work will pay off in the long run. Keep your mind occupied as much as possible. Like HFFM stated, it does get easier after a few days.

The first 3-4 days of the liquid diet are always the worst. It DOES get better.

What helped me was a) keeping insanely busy and b) staying focused on why I was putting myself through this. The combination helped a lot for me. I also tried to use the time to make sure all of my ducks were in rows for post-op, which fell into both categories of stay busy and stay focused.

You can do it.

Today was day 6 for me and I think I'm over the lack of energy finally. Like an earlier reply suggested, I have a protein shake every 2hrs minimum. I would also drink in between the first few days and that seemed to help. Just try to have the mindset that you are choosing to not let food have control, it's your choice to do better for yourself. YOU CAN DO THIS!

I can and I will

I guess I am different it never got easier. I cried most days at some point. I went to bed almost immediately after I got home from work. The was easier to deal knowing why I was doing it. So it might not get better in the short term but keep your eyes on why you are doing it. And it's okay to cry, to be mad, to question why, to have doubts, by all means it's okay to go to bed early you are putting your body through a lot.

I'm starting day 6 and I'm just in a really bad mood. Every little thing just irritates me to no end. Lab is taking to long. The garbage truck is slowing me down. blah blah blah... just a rant. I will be positive. I'm half way done.

Thank you for your replies, and support. These are my first posts here, but I've been reading this forum for many months leading up to my surgery and have found it extremely helpful.

I have been finding that I can counter the hunger by drinking the needed water.

Today it was the head hunger. The ooooh that looks soooo good, that smells great...

But I was able to tough it out and stick to my 3 shakes. I am beginning to look forward to the post surgery "baby food" err, yum, full liquids stage.

Hang in there,

Than never to travel at all.
