I was sleeved on Tuesday July 12. I feel horrible, not pain wise, the pain is manageable. But I feel weak, I hate the taste of the clear protein drinks, I hate this liquid diet. I have the runs... my mouth tastes awful, I am worried this will not work for me because I can drink and I don't feel restricted.

they took the lap band off... I am wondering if the restriction or lack of there of has something to do with that.

My incisions are much bigger than with the lap band and they are 7 in total. That is not a big deal except that they hurt.

please how did you survive this 2 weeks and the next two weeks will be not easier...

How did you do these????

With dedication and determination. I read as much as I could here before surgery, researched the hell out of it, and was prepared for the fact that it was going to be hard. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks before surgery, and another week after, so 21 days all together. Then soft foods (yogurt, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, etc.) for another 3 weeks. It was hard, damned hard, and I was weak at the beginning, but heck, I was consuming maybe 400 cals a day, down from what, probably what...2-3000? So yeah, I was weak. You're going to have runny BMs, you're taking in nothing but liquids. Yes, you can drink and don't feel restricted, because liquids go right through your stomach.

PLUS, you've just had all the nerves in your stomach cut, and major surgery. You won't FEEL anything in your new tummy for quite some time. You won't feel full, you won't feel restriction, and you DEFINITELY won't ever feel the restriction like you did with the band...it's completely different with VSG.

Are you not allowed milk-based protein drinks? Premier Protein seem to the be favorites (I hated the clear ones). I bought unflavored protein powder and made my own with skim milk, and added cocoa or PB2 or flavorings like banana, or coconut, or pineapple, etc, in combinations to change things up. You can also stir the powder into broth, which is a nice change from the sweeter drinks.

Before surgery, I used to eat meals that were probably a minimum of a 4-6 cups at a time...average. After surgery, you will be starting at 1tbsp of food at a time, so it's a huge change, and a lot to wrap your head around.

You have to keep telling yourself you did this for a reason, you ate yourself to where you got, and this is what will change your life for the better. Think of how many years obesity made you miserable? Surely a few weeks of "discomfort" is worth the great changes ahead?

Try to change your mind set. Look at all of this as how temporary it is, for the long-term good. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can. Hang in there, before you know it you'll be starting on solid proteins and things will be so much better.

Thank you so much, I thought I was ready but I was not... THis is going to be hard, I will try to focus on temporary, even though 3 more weeks of liquids sound horrible, and then 1 tablespoon of food, oh my God!!!

Thank you for responding I will read your post several times!!

You will get through it, I promise! Once you get to thick liquids/ purée you will feel like a new person. Yogurt tasted like candy to me! Protein will help with the weakness. It is super hard to get enough.

Eating things like pizza makes protein even harder to get.

Unnecessary. And very rude. Who made you the queen of this site?

Yet truthful. If you eat the way you're supposed to and prioritize protein, it's not hard to reach your protein goals.

Sorry that you are struggling. I was sleeved on 6/27 and I went through something similar. I hated the clear protein drinks. Isopure Clear is fine for the first sip or two but then I started to hate them. It helped when I had them in a huge glass of ice. The colder it was, the better it was for me. I also like the truesource protein water but it doesnt have the vitamins/minerals like Isopure. So I ended up using a little bit of this and a little bit of that so that I could tolerate it as a whole. I got the truesource at Target. I also had the same bathroom issue and my doctor said I could take Imodium, which I only took once because I didn't want to end up with the opposite issue. I was very weak and tired the first week but once I hit day 7 and 8 I felt so much better. Just hang in there. Drink as much water as you can and try to do protein too. It will pass just as you think you can no longer tolerate it.
