Good morning VSGers! I've got six days until surgery and I'm dying today. ARGH. I got a horrible sunburn last week and used something I'm allergic to at some point to soothe it. Now I've got a rash that I can't do much for because I've got surgery coming up. So no prednisone or anything, just topical stuff. It's horrible!

Today should be a good day otherwise. I'm going to take the final for my class and then all I have left to do is a discussion post for extra credit. Woo! Then I'll be finished with classes until September 11!

1: protein shake
2: protein shake
3: gangnam style pasta (just the sauce for me)

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope

How about you? How's life going today?

You are so close :) Are you adjusting food a little (double protein shake) for surgery?

I'm feeling a lot better than yesterday. I just seemed to be down a bunch yesterday. I hate those days. My workout last night was great and I think that helped knock me out of it.

Plan for today:

b: fit frappe & coffee

l: ravioli w/ tomato sauce

s: yogurt w/ strawberries

s: protein shake

d: pot roast

s: tbd

e: crossfit & maybe Olympic lifting

I am adjusting for surgery, yes. I need to get my protein up (100+ per day) and I don't feel like eating as much solid food as I would need to to reach that. I'm also feeling mopey and sorry for myself due to this stupid rash, so a second protein shake is appropriately pathetic for my pathetic feeling self :P

Another busy day today, last night's support group was good!

B: protein shake

L: 2 oz. spiced up chicken with broccoli slaw and riced cauliflower in a sesame ginger vinaigrette

S: protein shake

D: leftovers!

E: minimal... diagnosed with cellulitis in my leg, waiting for the infection to abate, and then will have to ramp up again. :-(

What are your support groups like? I went to one last night that was run by a local hospital branch and I was one of three people who attended. It seems like a brand new group that is still building a presence.

My support group is run through my surgeon's group and is fairly robust.

There are always two groups, pre-op to 4 months, and 4 months and after. Every other month or so there is a "Breaking Through" group for post-op people after 2 years who have regain.

Last night was the lowest turnout I've seen in a year... the summer is always the lowest season due to the heat, travelling, and the fact that school started yesterday here.

Last night the breaking through group took some of the post-op people as they had a guest speaker (registered dietician), so the two usual groups were combined into a group of about 20 people and the two group moderators (who are licensed therapists specializing in bariatrics).

I highly recommend my surgeon's practice, simply because of the extraordinary support structure they provide.

The groups meet twice monthly, unless the day falls on a holiday.
