Once I found out I was approved I started up my bad habits again. Anyone want to have one last hoorah with food before surgery. I feel like I'm saying goodbye to an old friend. I'm going to get back on track but I'm craving everything.

You need to nip that in the bud as soon as possible. If you don't, it's just going to make your pre- and post-surgery diets that much harder. Working on head hunger is the hardest part, IMHO.

I'm totally getting back on track. I'm also a stress eater, and sending my daughter off to college has had me stressing big time. She gone as of today so tomorrow back on track.

Believe me, part of me would love to go on an eating spree, but I care too much about my health and I hope you care about yours, too.

Going into your surgery, it is important that you do everything that you can to be as healthy as you can beforehand. Sure, treat yourself here and there, but in moderation.

My hubby and I took a fun vacay in May and we dined out at some amazing restaurants, but I watched my portions, prioritized protein and managed to lose weight on vacay and still sample some amazing food. I think a lot of this is mind over matter. You have to decide that your health is more important than anything on a plate. I'm in the home stretch before my surgery as well, but hanging in there with the healthy habits. Be strong and remember why you made the brave decision to have the surgery.

As Cathy says, the more you have your head in the game pre-op, the better your post-op experience will be. Enjoy foods you like now which will also fit in post-op in smaller portions. You will feel good physically, might lose some weight during pre-op, and will set yourself up for success post-op. IMHO.

I didn't increase my eating per say, during my pre-op time, but I was not on point or trying very hard either. I gained 7lbs in the 4 months from my info session to surgery. I didn't start to comply with diet changes until my liquid pre-op diet.

That being said, I'm one of those people who works well with hard and fast rules. I knew when I had to implement the rules and once I did I didn't make a single slip up again. I also knew that I couldn't lose weight if I wanted to have the surgery because my BMI was 36.2 the day of the info session. If you're one of those people who needs to ease into things, now is the time!
