Post Surgical Bloating

I just had band to sleeve surgery with a hiatal hernia repair as well as a liver biopsy done on Monday 8/28. Can anyone tell me when the post surgical bloating will subside? My belly is so big and uncomfortable it reminds me of being 9 month pregnant again.

Walking as much as you can will help the gas to subside.

Walk, walk, walk! I am 1 week post op and my gas is 99% gone. I was told in the hospital that it could take up to 2 weeks to subside.

The more you walk the more gas that will leave your body :)

Hang in there! I gained 8-9 pounds after VSG/hernia repair surgery on 7/28, and it took 6 days for those 9 pounds if IV fluids to go away. I was on a very strict clear liquid diet for 2 weeks and lost 6-7 more. Then, once I transitioned to full liquids for the next two, the weight loss slowed big time, and I still felt bloated and had a Santa belly! It was very discouraging. All of a sudden, at 4-5 weeks out and switching onto pureed foods, the weight loss has sky-rocketed to almost 10 more pounds in a week! I don't see the belly swelling and swollen fingers and toes now. I agree about the walking, but I think it may depend on your climate too. I swell up big time in summer heat/humidity (no matter how much water I drink); once the temps/humidity dropped, my body started letting go of the extra fluids and hopefully some of that is fat too!
