I just wanted to share in the excitement that I finally got approved and have a date of November 15th. The bariatric doctor that I am going to is in high demand and he is one of the best in the state so I am glad that I am in his hands. This is going to be interesting because I will probably be on my liquid diet around Thanksgiving and I'm sure I will have people around me trying to make me eat real food.

Say something like " I need to just keep drinking liquids today. I am afraid of what might happen if I do anything else". Just give them one of those knowing looks and let their imagination run free!

Congratulations on your surgery date! As for Thanksgiving, you'll be fine. I was only able to eat a bit of mashed potatoes last Thanksgiving, but I got to spend the time with my family and that was wonderful. I hope your family is supportive of your surgery and won't put any pressure on you! Best of luck!

Congratulations! I was on soft foods for Easter a short while after surgery and had to go to a brunch. I just had what was on my plan (scrambled eggs at that point I think). It was fine. You'll be surprised at how little people pay attention to what other people eat. Hopefully if they know about your surgery they will be supportive. If not, you can just say you are having "stomach issues", which will be true. People rarely ask more at that point as they don't want to potentially hear about vomit or diarrhea.

If you can make it through the pre-op diet without cheating then you can make it through the post-op diet period ... regardless of people tempting you.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.
