Talk about a trigger food OMG!

I mill my own flour and am playing with my newest mill (Mockmill 200). It can grind very coarse so I offered to make my daughter some homemade Cream of Wheat. I tried maybe a quarter cup prepared. 20 minutes later I am like a crack addict. Holy heck folks, keep those trigger foods at bay- they can possess your soul if you let them!

Hot cereal is a HUGE trigger for me-- I recently tried steel cut oats and had to quit them... trigger gone wild.

Yea, I love steel cut oats as well. Back when I carefully tracked everything the pattern became very evident that on the mornings I started with it my calories were high by the end of the day. Protein shakes still even this many years out are the best way for me to start.

Since I had VSG, hot cereal is my reward for shoveling snow :) I love it, and shoveling snow is a great workout, so I decided to connect the two in my brain. It also helps that I live somewhere that does not get a lot of snow!

Ugh - shoveling snow! Reminds me that season is just around the corner. It has been in the upper 30's the last 2 mornings - it get's nice by the afternoon, but still a preview of what's to come and I REALLY don't like winter.

I like this idea. It would go a long way to help with restricting without completely eliminating it.

I find Bulgar Wheat a good hot cereal that I am capable of eating one serving.

When I was about six years old, I did not finish my oatmeal one morning. My mother served the rest to me for lunch and I did not want to eat it. It was there for supper that night and I just went hungry. The next morning I refused to eat it for breakfast.

When I came home for lunch, she fed me something different. I have not been able to eat hot cereal since.

Maybe she did me a favor.

Cold oatmeal is disgusting. I don't blame you and dang, you had some resolve at a young age!

This was polenta for me growing up...I cannot eat it any more, sadly. We'd always have polenta for breakfast, and sometimes would have eggs or fish. I would always wind up an addict and eat way more as the day wound on!

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
