After VSG - Did food smells bother anyone?

I have always been a big fan of bacon. A true believer in that bacon makes everything better. (not a surprise how I got where I was, eh?) Tonight I cooked some bacon to use a slice in a recipe and let the family have BLT's. I was gonna snag a tiny little piece of the lean part (couple of grams), but while I was cooking it I became extremely nauseated over the smell. That is a new one for me.

Anyone else have a similar experience after surgery? I'm about 3 weeks out.

Diane

You are not the only one who has had an adverse reaction to smells. I actually posted about this a week ago or so. I am almost 6 weeks out and my heightened sense of smell sure surprised me out of the blue. It was so bad for awhile that I was nauseous all the time, but I am happy to report it has levelled out some. There are still a few scents that I can't handle at all , but for the most part I am coping well. My tastes have definitely changed dramatically too. It's a bit of a learning curve , but totally doable.

Best of luck to you

Thank you for the re-assurance. I guess there will be other surprises as well as I go along. I'm so glad you all are here!

This happened to me after my RNY. The evening I came home from the hospital Hubby had made ribs and they nauseated me horribly. I stayed clear of the kitchen for a spell.

Your hormones are crazy after surgery and this seems to be one of the side effects (just like pregnancy). Things also tasted strange to me for a bit. At some point that all leveled out and things tasted/smelled normal.
