Breakfast ideas needed

I am running out of ideas for breakfast items.

I need some variety and I've tried an egg with turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, yogurt and cottage cheese. (The eggs and turkey bacon aren't sitting right with me at the moment so that is on hold, I'm can only eat CC for like a week and then I have to take a break from it for a couple weeks then go back to it.

Right now I am in between protein drinks trying to find something that I am able to tolerate.

I tried PP and it made me gag really bad.

I need some ideas that I can prep the night before or something quick and easy since I get up at 4:45 and leave my house by 5:30.

Help me out please! :)

You may want to try different methods of making your foods/shakes. With me for example before surgery the only way I could eat eggs was scrambled and after surgery I could not eat them that way without it making my stomach hurt and making me sick at my stomach. However I can eat them if I fry them in just a touch of olive oil and they don't bother me at all or I can eat them hard boiled now where as before I could not. Also for me with the protein shakes I liked them before surgery as long as they were very cold but for a while after surgery I couldn't stomach them unless they were thinned out over ice. Now at two years out when I have a shake I don't have to thin it anymore but I do like it to be cold but not super cold. Another thing that helped me was Carb Master Milk from Kroger. It has very high protein and low carbs and may work as an alternative to the protein shakes for you. I would drink that instead of the shakes for a while when the shakes bothered me.

Edit to add: Also, I forgot to say: Breakfast doesn't have to be breakfast food. If you are able to do chicken breast or some other non-traditional food that gets your protein in and don't bother your stomach, then go for it. There are lots of people on these boards that don't ever eat "breakfast" foods. :)

Ya I tried eating eggs scrambled and fried with spray butter but it didn't make a difference for me.

I just ordered a sample pack of the syntrax protein juices so hopefully I'll be able to tolerate that.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it! :)

In good news - you don't need to eat traditional breakfast foods in the morning. How about deli meats or pre-cooked chicken? Basically anything you'd eat for lunch or dinner :)

i like cold steak, so I'm happy to eat that for any meal. I do tend to have a shake for breakfast just because my body has never liked solid food in the morning.

True!

I have deli meat and cheese for lunch today lol.

I just don't want to eat the same things over and over again you know?

The hardest part has been the vitamins/protein drinks and finding alternative foods to eat because I have such a weak stomach (gagging/throwing up) with smells and tastes. Also the biggest issue is textures for me too.

While I don't have those issues personally, I totally understand and it sucks. Hopefully you're issues with texture and smells will improve with time. But, if they don't, I'm sure you'll figure out ways to cope!

I agree with the posters who said breakfast food doesn't have to be breakfast food - I often have leftover chicken sausage or ground turkey with taco seasoning or cheese for breakfast which seems "unique" to many, but works for me :) You can even have tuna! I have lately really been enjoying egg salad made with hard-boiled egg mixed with cottage cheese and Everything But the Bagel spice on top. It's delicious.

For my first 18 months after surgery my pouch did NOT like solid food first thing in the morning and would sit like a rock in my stomach or give me the foamies until I threw up. I really enjoyed Chike high protein iced coffee shake (get the powder on Amazon) mixed with water. 20g of protein for less than 200 calories and tastes like a slightly sweetened coffee. Delish. I also used to buy Light and Fit Greek yogurt - I enjoyed the strawberry kind with a tablespoon of PB2 (powdered peanut butter) mixed in.

I think I'm the only person in existence who doesn't like the EBB spice. To me it's overwhelmingly burnt onion. Which sucks since I want to love it like all the cool kids do!

LOL @ "the cool kids"! I love it, but I am also an everything bagel FREAK. I mean, I wouldn't even consider eating a different bagel. Well now it is very infrequent that I have a bagel but if I do, it damn well better be an everything bagel!

I have a feeling Art would love the EBB spice, but he hasn't actually tried it yet. He's like you and loves everything bagels! I am/was a sesame bagel type of person :D
