I'm still having a hard time comprehending that it's December. I'm going to take a Kettlebell class today that is being hosted as a fundraiser for a local fire department. Then I'm going to come home and cook a 5lb Prime Rib because my uncle and his wife are coming for dinner. I'm hoping we can also find a time in there to go cut down a Christmas tree, but that might have to wait until tomorrow, we'll see.

I tried to get a bunch of different friends to come to the KB class with me and everyone declined. It's amazing how much exercise turns people off!

QOTD: Open for someone to come up with something, I'm not feeling creative today.

Saturday... already. Our inside decorations are done and the tree is up and covered with lights. All that remains is having the grandkids over to cover the tree with ornaments and putting up the outside stuff. First time we have decorated in 10 years. The house looks and feels good and I'm actually looking forward to Christmas, which is unusual for me.

QOTD: When did you (or your kids) stop believing in Santa? My Aunt (who was a loud mouthed, course and generally unpleasant woman) asked my mom in front of me where mom had gotten a toy when I was about 6. That's when I learned there was no Santa. But my mom says that she overheard me telling my younger brother the next year that he had to pretend he still believed or we wouldn't get any presents. I was a bossy know-it-all when I was younger. LOL

M1: egg and yogurt

M2: ham

M3: TBD

M4: TBD

M5: Shrimp and stir fry vegs (rice for the family)

S: Depends on what of the above gets eaten

E: none today

Water and vits on track

I distinctly remember a conversation with my Mother when I was in 5th grade (so I was 10?) where she was reading me a story about the real St. Nick and turned to me and said "You know Santa isn't real right?" and I said yes and we moved on. I don't remember how I found out, just that by that conversation I already knew.

I just had "the talk" with my 11-year old and she already knew that there wasn't a Santa. My 8-year old is still clinging to it for now, even though Isis says that friends all over the place have been talking about it in front of her. Kids are jerks sometimes.

I'm looking forward to putting my tree up on 12/12 after we get back to New England. The lights on our porch here in Florida just aren't giving me Christmas spirit. Maybe I need to watch some cheesy Hallmark movie specials?

QOTD: I think I was about 5 when I found Santa gifts in the closet. Both my kids held off on admitting that they didn't believe in Santa until they were 8 or 9, probably because they were afraid it would affect the gifts they received (that was my theory at the time). But it may have just been wanting to keep the same Christmas feeling as they have both complained that Christmas is too quiet now without any young children (everyone is over 20).

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, and Canadian bacon

L: Turkey salad and tomato

Good morning! We slept much better last night. He was still up about 4 times, but went right back to sleep once I found his pacifier and patted his butt a couple of times. Progress! I'm trying to get some more decorations up, and then we're off to the Phillies' Christmas event. I found a recipe for a keto pizza dough that I'm going to try tonight. Our Saturday pizza night is one of the things I miss the most from before surgery.

QOTD - I'm pretty sure my cousin told me about Santa when I was about 7. I didn't say anything to my mom until I was about 12.

B - latte, cottage cheese

L - shrimp

S - protein shake

D - keto pizza

I still haven't flipped my wall calendar, so it's still November here ;) Leaving in a little while to see Lady Bird. I hope it goes well. The theater is a bit farther away from home so there's a greater chance I'll need to use the bathroom while out and that's intimidating. Fingers crossed.

QOTD: I actually have no idea when I stopped believing in Santa. Or if I ever did believe in Santa!

1: protein shake
2: protein bar at movie
3: leftover quiche if there's still some left, or something else, when I get home from movie
4: sautéed chicken, pasta amatriciana for the guys

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope - but more walking than I have done recently due to the walk between the theater and parking garage.

It's been a wonderful morning here. DW and I got to sleep in until 7:30 a.m. (she is also a teacher, so 5:00 AM is our normal) and then we went for a walk in the park. It's beautiful here today, sunny and slightly cool but not at all uncomfortable.

A kettlebell class actually sounds like fun to me! I think I'm lucky in the friends department, as far as exercise. My wife and I are the odd ones out right now. Two of my friends run marathons, and my sister in law is actually teaches kickboxing classes on the side. They are extremely excited about my upcoming surgery and new, healthy lifestyle.

QOTD: Well. This generally makes me pretty unpopular, but we don't "do" Santa. When I was about six, I had anxiety attacks one Christmas about Santa breaking into our house. So, no one in my family (even my extended) does Santa anymore. Christmas is just as pleasant (even more so, in my opinion.) We also don't do other fictional entities like the Easter Bunny. We encourage plenty of imagination, just not in this way. We do speak to the children about not "ruining" it for others. :-)

B: Chocolate Premier Protein Shake

L: 3 oz. salmon and 1 cup of garlic boiled cabbage

D: 4.5 oz. of turkey tenderloin and 1 cup of garlic boiled cabbage

NO SNACKS

E: Already took a 1.5 mile walk this morning, probably do that again this afternoon

I understand your train of thought. I always wondered if I had kids of my own if I would "do" Santa. I like the idea, but I think it is sad when they "find out" it wasn't real. Although I never did have babies of my own, I always thought that I would teach the stories of Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. but make sure they knew they were imaginary. The only "unseen entity" I would have wanted them to believe in was God. I was concerned that when they learned these other figures were not real, they may question whether God was real.

This might not be a popular school of thought and my comments are not meant to provoke flaming or controversy and I don't look down or think anyone is wrong if they choose another way, this was just my thoughts when I thought about having children.
