Bra Immediately Post-Op

Hello! I've seen a few lists that recommend bringing a front clasp bra or a wireless bra or a sports bra to wear post-op and I'm wondering how necessary/useful that is. All of my bras are back-clasps, and given my bust size, I don't have any without underwire or any of the flimsy sports bras. I have time that I could go to the store and pick something up today if it's really an issue, but I was wondering what people's experiences here were with bras post-VSG and if the purchase is even necessary.

It really depends on where your surgeon puts the incisions. I have a long torso, so my incisions were nowhere near my underwires, hence no problem wearing a bra. Some people get very high incisions and it bothers them.

I thought that might be the case! That's a question I wish I'd known to ask my surgeon! I guess I'll find out tomorrow :)

I wore my regular bra home -- same one I wore in the day before on surgery day - since I only had it on an hour or so between leaving the house and checking into the hospital. I didn't have any issues. (Pre-surgery I wore a 42HH bra. I'm a 36 F now. )

I simply didn't wear a bra. We just went home the next day, so I didn't really care to.

I stated wearing a sports bra about a week postop. I'm a DD. My highest incision from a trocar was between my breasts, just below my typical bra line.

I didn't wear one either. It was just too much work to put it on after surgery. I just didn't care. Good luck.

I had zero issues with my regular bras post-op. :)
