Yay it's Friday! I'm up for fitness classes (I don't know how many of the three I'll be doing, but at least one of them). Then I've got more school work to take care of. Today I get to make a flow chart. "Yay!" Then, tonight, I'm going to some sort of poetry/literary reading at the local college.

QOTD: Tell us about something that has happened to you recently that really surprised you. (Not necessarily something that made you jump or anything, any sort of surprise. I'll post later in a comment.)

1: protein shake
2: leftover gyro meat from yesterday
3: lamb salad if there's any left

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: zenga class, tai chi class, pilates class

How about you? What's going on in your world today?

I'm at day 2 at Universal Studios in Florida. I've been up for over 1.5 hours but everyone else is still sleeping (I'm in the lobby). I am definitely NOT a theme park person.

QOTD: Hmmm... I can't remember being surprised by much these days. Maybe it is my age? I guess I'm surprised that DS has chosen to live so close to home right now.

FOOD: Hard to find much healthy here... I just had 1/2 of a protein bar for breakfast. I ate 2 of those things yesterday. We are stopping at Bahama Breeze for dinner, so probably a crab stack there.

Yay for Friday! We are having our annual Walk A Mile in Their Shoes event at the prison (we'll have our community one next week). It's a walk to honor and support survivors of sexual violence. Many of the inmates decorated posters and two prepared a really moving ballet performance. I've got to give a speech, which is not my favorite but I'm looking forward to the event!

QOTD: I just found out my brother may be returning home from Afghanistan a few weeks early. (June instead of July). That was definitely a surprise because with the military typically things get pushed farther out, not the other way around. Can't wait for him to come home!!!

b - Protein shake

l - salami, pepperoni, sharp cheddar

d - burger (no bun) and corn on the cob

e - walking a mile at the prison, maybe some yoga this evening

QOTD: My recent surprise.. You might remember that I attended a local bereavement group through hospice at the beginning of 2017. I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be a really great experience and 3-4 of us have continued to meet up monthly for lunch together. This group that has continued to meet is me, two older women (one in her late 50s, the other in her 70s), and one older man (in his early 70s). They're wonderful people and they love asking me about my schooling - which is cool, since I love talking about it!

So we met up for our rescheduled March lunch yesterday and, afterward, the guy asked me if I had a moment (I did) and he gave me a book of poetry he'd picked up at a book sale that he thought I might like. THEN he gave me a poem that he'd written himself for me.

I was super surprised by this. He's really sweet and insightful and great, but aaaah.... this is a little awkward! I was too chicken to read it yesterday, so I read it today. And.. yeah. I'm 99% sure that he's just a very kind, thoughtful, wonderful person. But 1% of me goes to this panic place of "OMG I HOPE HE'S NOT FLIRTING WITH ME!!!!"

What a lovely gesture! You must have connected with him in some way during group or at lunch that made him feel safe enough to give you the poem. Those little rare moments give me goose bumps:-)

Happy Friday all.

QOTD: I was recently surprised at how much I've changed over the last 30 years. I used to be so intense. Now I'm much more mellow and accepting. But, on the other hand, I'm much more driven in some ways (getting healthy, losing weight, getting my house in order... etc). It's like everything flip flopped.

Meal 1: Coffee, PP protein shake

Meal 2: 1 egg

Meal 3: Sous vide Rib Eye steak

Meal 4: Gouda and pear chicken sausage with shirataki noodles and no cal white sauce (walden farms) (ended up having egg and ham last night as we got home late, so we will try for this one tonight)

Snack: protein drink if needed.

Water and Vits: On track

How is the sauce? I tried Walden farms spaghetti sauce for zucchini noodles and couldn't spit it out fast enough.

It is tolerable. I agree with you. The red sauce was gross. I really like their salad dressings. The only one I didn't care for was the honey mustard. I also like their blue cheese dip, but their chocolate and peanut butter was yucky. I have a bottle of maple syrup, but have not had occasion to use it. Their BBQ sauces are good too. I will put it on meat and broil it and it is very close to the real thing.

All in all, their products are decent. I know a lot of people don't like them due to them being faux food, but for an occasional indulgence, they are nice (and calorie, carb and fat free!)
