Hi Everyone,

So I'd like to get your opinion.

After VSG Surgery did you...

A. Still feel hungry a lot, NOT head hunger but real hunger?

B. Feel hungry ONLY when you were actually hungry?

C. NOT feel hungry again and had to make sure you ate during the day?

THANKS for your answers...Kim !!!

For me it's different day by day. There are some days when I don't feel particularly hungry and I'll fall on the low end of my calorie range without much thought. Then I'll have days when I am just sooo hungry and I push the max end of my calories. It doesn't feel like acid, but genuine hunger. That's my two cents!

All of the above, depending on the day or time. I struggled with head hunger for a little bit after surgery, but that went away. Now, it's one of the last two for the most part. Some days, I have to remember to eat. Others, not so much, but when I do eat, I get full quickly and we're good.

Keep on losing!

I lost my hunger after vsg, hVent been hungry in 8 years. I eat by the clock.

Some ppl get real hunger post op but many feel hunger if they are eating carbs, are not drinking enough liquids or have acid reflux , which can be a side affect of vsg.

I haven't gotten hunger back yet. Head hunger, sure. Usually sets in when I'm bored, but I have been able to ignore it without issue. I like Holly Kim, I eat by the clock. When I eat is important to get my protein in. It's not fun, but the freedom surgery has given me is! Even if lately I've had a small mental explosion over my scale and bones, there's not a moment of regret.

This intrigues me. Please explain. :)

Lol! I am a daily weigher and have learned that I can't handle fluctuations. I've not had hardly any over this year+, now that I'm so close to goal, it's not a pound a day being lost. I had a slight melt down over a 6 ounce weight gain from the previous morning. Then pretty much second guessed everything I had been doing up until that point, including feeling on the bones of my shoulders and convincing myself I looked like a science class' skeleton. Yesterday and last night was not a good day mentally and by the morning after not sleeping I knew my obsession with the scale was going to get worse. I locked it up so I can't weigh daily, and I made an appointment with my therapist to see her sooner than our normal time. Last thing I want is to trade one eating disorder for another!

For most of the first year, my answer was C.

After that it's B, but now 12.5 years later, sometimes I actually crave something.

I feel real hunger and head hunger. I honestly I don't feel a lot different as far as my appetite goes to when I was pre-op. But, I do a lot better job managing the feelings now. I did have a total reprieve from hunger for about 4-5 months post op.
