Summer is here on Cape Cod! It is going to be sunny and at least 80 today and the summer crowds are expanding. Yeah to the first, not so wonderful on the second. My #1 goal for today is beach, as they will be crowded over the weekend. The "mainland" is supposed to be in the 90s this weekend, so even if people hadn't already planned to be here for the summer kickoff, they will be making plans now.

QOTD: Have you changed your perspective on having plastic surgery since you began contemplating WLS? I never in a thousand years would have considered it in the past, as I thought only rich or famous people did it. Strange how ones thoughts can change! As you can see in my signature, I had a TT, facelift and eye lift. After losing over 100 pounds, my tummy was a mess. I never had a flat tummy after my teen years, but the new reality was not something I realized would happen after weight loss. I also developed terrible jowls and a turkey neck after my formerly very round face slimmed down. So I did the TT and facelift to feel like I had completed my weight loss goals. The eye lift was vanity brought about at the suggestion of my PS, who I really like and trust. In total I spent about $20K, which I think I was worth. BUT, I never thought about potential complications much as I usually breeze through surgeries and illnesses. A friend has had quite a few complications after her PS, so I think it is important that anyone contemplating it do a lot of reasearch before committing to it (the plastic surgery forum here is a good place to start).

I was 100% on plan again yesterday on day two of three on CAMAW, following three days of AMAW. I have held off on weighing until Saturday hoping that I am back in my preferred weight range after vacation at that point. Only one more day!

I've never been to Cape Cod -- it sounds lovely!

QOTD: Have you changed your perspective on having plastic surgery since you began contemplating WLS? No. I had reconstruction after a double mastectomy (which means hiked up and firm even after weight loss). At 66, I'm content with my face and neck, which are not bad (but I've not been a sun person ever). And as to tummy, well after 4 C-secs and 2 other major abdominal surgeries, not anxious to do anything. But totally would if I felt led to do it. Being your best self, to yourself, is so important.

B: Canadian bacon, sprouted bread

L: TBD - today is house cleaning & baking for a new neighbor, plus a peach kuchen for husband Sometimes cooking removes any idea of eating, so maybe Oikos Triple Zero

D: Some high protein thing

I'm a bit off today after sigmoidoscopy yesterday. All clear!

Great news on the sigmoidoscopy. But I was baffled by "Sometimes cooking removes any idea of eating"??? Are you one of those super lucky people who never gets hungry? Cooking always makes me want to eat more (sounds like a good excuse to not cook, doesn't it?).

QOTD: Well, I just started this journey last Monday so not sure what issue I may have that will bother me? I am pretty sure my arms will but my insurance will not cover PS and my bank account is empty so I will have to live with it, which I have given great thought to before my surgery and I am OK.

Water, water, water!

B: SF Jell-O, Chicken Broth

L: Almond Breeze and Protein Powder shake

D: not sure yet, but one or more of the above lol

S: PowerAde Zero, Unsweetened Applesauce (for meds) Protein2O Tropical Coconut.

QOTD: Totally. Well, I've changed my perspective on it in terms of myself. When I went into weight loss, it never even crossed my mind that I'd want/need reconstructive surgery - that was something "other" people did. I guess I was so focused on losing weight and being healthier, that I never thought about excess skin? I don't know. (Now that I go to support groups, I know there are people who think about it a LOT pre-WLS.) I never thought much about plastic surgery in terms of other people - I still don't :P

And.. I realize that I haven't actually eaten anything today and probably won't be until I get home closer to 2pm.

1: protein shake
2: I don't know - it'll depend on when I actually get meal #1 and if I feel hungry and a lot of other things, I might just skip it.
3: Arroz a Caballo with Greens and Smoked Pork - I'll skip the rice for me, so it's really just sautéed spinach, bacon, and a fried egg on top.

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: zenga class

Morning everyone! Last night I helped Nick with filming a local concert for a tourism commercial he's working on. We walked all over in 95 degree heat and went up and down the amphitheater's stairs multiple times while I carried the equipment. A year ago that would've been impossible!! Now I'm just a bit sore :)

QOTD: pre-wls I never thought I would even consider plastics, but now my arms are really bothering me and I have thought a lot about it. The main frustration is that clothes that would otherwise fit me are too tight in the arms. And aesthetically the bat wings aren't cute haha! I don't know that I'll ever actually get any PS done though. The cost and the recovery time are just so prohibitive.

B - coffee & protein

L - yogurt & almonds

D - hibachi steak & shrimp with cabbage

E - lunges, donkey kicks, leg lifts

Good morning! 80 degrees on the Cape sounds wonderful Liz. I visited your area in 1990 during the fall, it was very quiet and beautiful.

I waited most of the day for the bug guy yesterday, I find I don't have a lot of patience anymore. I had to just let it go and be glad he came to get rid of the spiders.

QOTD-I have always wanted a breast reduction, so I knew that after WLS my breasts would be even a bigger problem than before WLS. The PS my PCP referred me too sent me a bunch of paperwork and requirements to meet before she will even see me for a consult. So I have a little work to do before hand. I didn't expect my arms to bother me as much as they do, so this was a surprise contemplation:-)

B-Sigg's strawberry rhubarb yogurt

L-Flax, chia and walnut "porridge" with stevia and cream

S-Chai tea, turkey jerky

Good afternoon friends! I am up and drinking tea. I have breakfast, lunch, and dinner for my work weekend all planned out and packed up in the fridge including healthy snacks for those nights where I've either been sitting doing nothing in a room in a dark and need a boost, OR I'm running my buns off like crazy and need a boost lol. Since I have been going between daywalking during the week and being a night person on the weekend I have tried to eat light on monday to change my eating schedule. It does not work. I also cannot just live on protein shakes like I often yearn for. The day I did just do protein shakes I was much too weak to function. Walking in the grocery store was a threat to fainting. Some of it I know is the heat, it was 95-102 that day and I am easy to over heat since surgery considering that I do not really sweat any more despite by water in take. Yikes. Though, I do well with managing my eating, which I did not do and instead under ate terribly. No more of that, I learned my lesson!

QOTD: I made a post a good while back about my thoughts on PS. I wasn't against it, but said I was content to never get it minus the initial skin removal. I still feel that way. Of course, if I had the money I would LOVE to get it and would do it in a heart beat, but I don't feel that I need all that. While most of it is money, some of it is the dread of recovery from it. Right now my biggest steps coming up are school and then my stomach skin removed within this year.

Curious though, what is the loose skin supposed to look like on the stomach? I always thought it would be more like putty where you can sort of "mush" it in your hands and pull it. Some of it is, but I feel like in the lower part of the stomach it still has fat in it. I can feel it. Is it fat that I need to get rid of on my own with my exercise, or is it removed in the procedure?
