Good morning menu thread. I am posting the thread early while I have a breather at work. I am in another observation with a patient and this one had dementia. It has been a trying night, getting more difficult the later it got.

Tomorrow is my Birthday! I have never been excited for my birthdays, but I don't feel as down as I normally do on my day. I am going to go out to dinner with family. The place is somewhere "different" and a "surprise" so we will see what I can pick from.

QOTD: Describe your favorite restaurant, what's your favorite thing about it?

Mine is a small Mexican place called La Fuentes. Their chicken is amazing. I don't know how they cook it, or marinate it but it's so juicy and flavorful. I love that the staff know us and remember things we talk about.

Breakfast- Buddig turkey breast, pepper jack cheese sticks

Lunch- chicken cordon bleu with green beans

Dinner- cold rotisserie chicken, cottage cheese

snacks- protein shake, PB with ritz crackers

totals 1024cal, 56 carbs, 106g protein

Will try to fit another snack in to both get calories and fat up. The fat has really helped my digestion I believe!

Hi! I'm getting ready to head home after a lovely, busy, tiring, wonderful weekend with my mom.

QOTD: I don't think I have one right now. Which is strange.

1: oatmeal (my usual meal before leaving my mom's on Monday mornings, no idea why!)
2: leftover mongolian meatballs
3: spicy ground pork and zucchini stir fry, rice for the guys

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: probably nothing, maybe yoga when I get home

Hi All

QOTD: Describe your favorite restaurant, what's your favorite thing about it? Currently my favorite is a small breakfast/lunch diner we stumbled onto, well, truthfully we have seen it many times but finally decided to give them a try shortly before my surgery. We like to support local shops and restaurants/diners/cafes and now after my surgery they are just most often more willing to cater to my limited diet. AND FYI even when we share a meal we tip like we bought two full meals! (We've been in that business so we are big on tips) OK, so Hanna's is the name and it is really busy (which means good food) and they have a great staff! One thing I love is I can substitute out foods I can have for those I cannot or should not have, for example out with the potatoes and instead I can have tomato slices OR avocado slices! At no additional charge which is great, we stopped going to one because even with no toast or potatoes they still charged me for a small amount of salsa! Don't get me wrong if I order something special I expect to pay but in this case it seemed wrong.

Week 8

Water, water, water! Oh a VSG friend suggested I try Jordan's Skinny Syrup PEACH to up my fluid intake so giving it a try today she said it doesn't have that sugar free taste.

M1: 4 oz Ocean Spray Diet Cran-Grape Juice

M2: SF Sea Salt Caramel Coffee

M3: Mini Salad w/½ Burger Patty

M4: not sure probably anything left of M3

M5: ½ of an Avocado Burger Patty

M6: Not sure IF hungry String Cheese

Gotta try that peach stuff. Artificial sweeteners usually taste pretty off to me. I'm okay 90% of the time with plain water, but it's nice to have variety from time to time.

Good morning! I hope the rest of your shift went well. Exciting about your birthday tomorrow!

We are back from the lake in NH (got home at 9 last night). Today I have to clear the decks and get ready for company this afternoon and the next few days. Lots to get in before the end of summer here on Cape Cod.

QOTD: This is a tough one because we have some many great restaurants here. Probably a place called Fisherman's View which is on Cape Cod Canal and has a beautiful view of the canal and lots of boats. The fish is terrific there as well. But I also like Spranos at Casino on the Sea which has a beautiful view in Falmouth Heights and the dining room is lovely. They have wonderful Italian food (they have had a good inland restaurant for a lot of years). I could actually go on and on, because it depends on the time of year and the weather as to what appeals. The best restaurant I've ever been to is one where DS interned twice and worked at for a while as a chef: Auberge Du Soleil in Rutherford, CA (Napa valley). The restaurant is at the resort. Amazing food and views! And thank goodness we had a 50% discount... I actually couldn't do it justice now as it is a fixed course meal and I wouldn't be able to eat enough to make it worth even that 50% price.

2 Years, 4.5 months post-op (maintaining at goal for 20.5 months)

Always lots of coffee...

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: ? Probably going out

S: cottage cheese with fruit

Hey, Mer****hanks for the post! Your food always sounds so much better than mine! I need some preparation, I think.

QOTD: Describe your favorite restaurant, what's your favorite thing about it? I love the Black Eye'd Pea here in Mooresville. It's small, (maybe 12 tables), run by two brothers with their mum, sister and nieces. The food is hot, well prepared, never greasy, and pretty traditional comfort food.

I can order "sides" to make sure the choices are good; only down side is the waiti some times!

B: Daughter home; over easy egg; 1 crisp bacon, 1/4 waffle

S: Skinny Girl Popcorn 1 C

L: Chicken breast, 1/4 twice backed potato

D: Thin crust ham & pineapple pizza, yogurt

Happy Birthday, mersh! Hellos, menu friends. Happy Monday. I?m off today, which is great?still recovering from an end of year getaway and a family party at the house yesterday. Not to mention chasing, buying and sorting school supplies. Today is a day to get back on track with hydration and protein. I had so much salty stuff yesterday?probably my body trying to replace all the salts that I sweat out walking several miles in 70% humidity. Thought I?d lose 3lbs on this vacay, but nope! (Hopefully, I?m retaining water in my crazy sore legs). In truth, I?ve neglected my best interests and am noting it as a lesson learned.

QOTD: I?m not sure that I have one. One of the best and most beautifully presented meals that I?ve had was at the Napa Rose at a hotel in the Disneyland resort. It was autumn and everything was seasonal and so well- plated, you almost hated to eat it. If I?m in Honolulu, I really like Alan Wongs?fun, creative menu. For everyday family meals, there?s a local cafe that has a solid menu, a nice staff and a great coffee bar.

B - coffee, protein, fairlife. maybe I will add some cinnamon. I?m trying to see if I can fake a Mexican hot chocolate taste.

L - Ham, Swiss, some celery and raw broccoli. Need some fiber :/

D - TBD.

S - more protein.

Water and vitamins.

Good morning! I hope you can get some good sleep today Mersh after your long night. I am so glad to hear you feel a little better about your birthday tomorrow!

It was a long weekend and I was slammed at work yesterday. Groups of people coming in to ask what in the heck they are going to do all week long now that half of Glacier Park is closed. The air quality is so bad you can't even tell them to enjoy the rest of the outdoor activities our area has to offer:-) Museums and shopping is all I had to offer for right now. The Osprey's are still screeching like mad, but I found out it is totally normal, so now I can stop worrying about them.

QOTD-(edited due to forgetting to answer)My favorite restaurant would have to be Tupello Grille. It is Cajun/Creole inspired. My favorite dishes are shrimp and grits and Cajun chicken pasta. I haven't been there since my 49th birthday.

B-Bullet Coffee

L-PP shake(peaches & cream)

S-?

D-Grocery shopping

E-I can't take Emmy outside, she is too small to handle the air, so not sure what to do today.

Have a safe Monday!

This "new normal" with our West coast fire season is so depressing. Remember when fires didn't start until September, and didn't eat up thousands upon thousands of acres at a time?
