Hey all! I've been MIA with some personal stuff going on, but I wanted to post this. My friend sent me the link to this and I wanted to share. I don't know if I'm hormonal or something, but I got all teary-eyed when I read it. We've all been in this position before, so we can relate to this. Everyone keep up their amazingly great work!

Haven't made it yet! I cut up the veggies this morning (got the zucchini yesterday during lunch at a farmer's market across from work) so I can just throw everything on the stove when I get home. It doesn't really take all that long to make, about 45 mins give or take. If you'd like, I can give you the recipe :)

Topic: RE: Ready To Drink Protein Shakes
I like the SlimFast 3-2-1 high protein/low carb RTDs. Four for $5.47 (or something like that) at Wal-Mart. Be careful though, cause it HAS to say high protein (20g protein) or you'll end up buying their regular crap with next to no protein. Also, as someone else suggested, Pure Protein's RTDs are yum as well :)

Topic: RE: Ball game food?
If I were you, I'd eat at home before the game. It's not as fun, but 1.) it's cheaper and 2.) you'll still be full and won't be tempted by other unhealthier options on the menu.

Like another poster said, take a baggie with turkey pepperoni or jerky or 1/4 oz of pork skins to snack on in case you DO get hungry. Most of all, just have fun at the game!

Topic: RE: TMI but...
I started my period the day of surgery! It was so embarrassing. The nurse and nurse's aide were helping me out of bed so I could walk around and I was like "I started my period". The nurse was sweet and helped me put on my undies and a pad. The male nurse's aide changed my bedding and brought me a new gown. I was mortified but they made me feel better.

My parents had gone home to rest after I was out of surgery but knocked out, so I called my mom and was like "BRING ME PADS!!" lol.

My cycles have always been inconsistent. I just started my period on Saturday. Sunday, I had HORRIBLE cramps. I hadn't had cramps like that since high school. I broke out into a cold sweat, I was nauseated. Plus, I've been bleeding very, very heavily (which is a pain but also has me slightly worried...I never bleed this much). I'm just chaulking it up to my body/hormones freaking out from everything it's been through, though.

Topic: RE: Your view, carb-wise, on fruit?
Every so often, I'll make the Strawberry Cannolis from theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com for family or friends and I'll have like, two of them. It's a little treat that's not overly sugary and I feel satisfied and not deprived. Plus, strawberries have tons of vitamin C. As long as you don't go overboard with certain fruits, you should be fine.

I wasn't told not to shave, so I did it the night before. I was only told to wash myself with antibacterial bodywash. However, follow your doctor's orders, no matter how trivial it seems. Can't stress that enough. Call & ask about waxing. I'm sure they'd be ok with it :)

Topic: RE: Hebrew National 97% fat free Hot Dogs
It's been months and months since I last had a hot dog (boiled! I'm not a fan of grilled dogs), and I saw some of these hot dogs at the grocery store, but passed them up. Too bad you didn't care for them! I was really hoping you'd rave about them being so delicious that they changed your life or something so I could justify buying them. LOL.

Topic: RE: Tricks to help detox off of sugar?
I started slowly nixing stuff from my diet over a few months. Didn't want to shock my system. Truthfully, I have never really been a sweets fan all that much. Using Splenda and/or sugar free syrups can help too!

Topic: RE: How long was it till you could swim/exercise
Congrats on the start of your journey! It's a nerve-wracking yet exciting time! It passes by quicker than you think :)

I'm two months out & my surgeon told me specifically no baths (showers only) & no swimming for two months post-op (which sucked because I love going tubing at the river around memorial day!). Now that my two months are up, it's river time!

Each surgeon has different rules, though. If you love swimming, that'd be a good question to ask him or her!
