Congratulations!! You have worked so hard, enjoy the jeans LOL!
Topic: RE: 2 yrs 2 mths postop..with pics..started 354 lbs
You are such an amazing inspiration!! Thank you for posting your story.

Comparing weight loss rates is hard for me. I started at 384 and expected some of it to melt off in the begining....i have come to accept and understand it will and is coming off 1-2 lbs at a time.

Thank you again.

Topic: RE: How do you eat enough?
I have a thing about textures. I have tried mixing the unflavored protein powder with yogurt and pudding and it didnt dissolve so i ended up with 'sandie' yogurt and pudding. I bought high quality so that wasnt the issue.

Since becoming more aware of the calories and protein, i will have 65 gms of protein today and that is adding a shake. I added all my foods into myfitnesspal and i will make sure i do that from now on so i know exactly how much of everything i have had. I am not going to worry about calories right now as long as my fluid and protein are the right amount.

I cant thank everyone enough for the responses.

Ok. So don't really worry about calories now? Just continue to get the protein and fluids and as my body heals i can count calories?

Topic: RE: How do you eat enough?
Hi. I never thought in my life I would ask how to eat more but here I am.

I know that I am not getting very many calories. I am a little over 3 weeks out and am eating stuff like yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, eggs, etc. I have been losing steadily up to this point and assume that this is a stall but my concern is that I am truly not getting enough. I hadn't thought about it until the losing stopped and I started going up that I figured up the calories. One day it was under 300. I ate 3 times that day. YES, I know this is not enough, which is why I am here. I'm not trying not to eat.

So I have started trying to eat every 3 hours (which is harder than it sounds), some protein of some sort. I am not hungry but going by the clock instead. I eat about 1/4 cup each time of something. I am drinking my fluids in between.

Am I on the right track?  I can deal with a stall but I want to ensure that I am getting enough fuel so my body won't hold on to everything.

So far today I have had:
9:00am - 1 hard boiled egg mashed up with tiny drop of light/ff mayo and a few spoonfuls of carbmasters yogurt
12:00pm - same

Yesterday:
7:30am - bariatric fusion shake
10:00am - cottage cheese
1:00pm -  1 hard boiled egg mashed up with tiny drop of light/ff mayo
7:30pm - hummus

Thoughts and feedback are welcome :)

Topic: RE: Ruby Tuesday's
I've been many times and love it. Their New Orleans seafood is my favorite. I actually went today. I had the mashed cauliflower, it was quite yummy :)

Cafe TuTu Tango is awesome though...I've been once but it made an impression.

Hi. I tried a new protein drink this morning and it gets 2 thumbs up. It may not be new to the market but new to me and i thought i would share.

Its Health Wise Amaretto Cappuccino drink mix. Smells really good and taste great too. I have a thing about smells so i cant drink it if it smells bad. Lol

Topic: RE: Itchy incisions
Some itching is healing but you can also be allergic to the glue (or at least I was). My itching was awful, I was sooooooo uncomfortable. I did have inflammation but there was/is no infection. Dr. confirmed it today.

Topic: RE: Weird "knot" feeling in my throat/chest. Thoughts?
Yeah, i have been burping alot too i think that is pretty normal. From what i read on the board you wont really feel full until more solid food. I could tell a big difference with cottage cheese. I actually have to measure those where the liquids i didnt.

I really started feeling great on day 7, but thats just me

Hey RNmom,
Congrats on your surgery!

I did not have a hernia repair this time but did with the band revision or removal, i dont remember which, its been a couple of years. I think its just acid and i go on Thursday for my 2 week f/u.

How are you feeling?

Topic: RE: Weird "knot" feeling in my throat/chest. Thoughts?
I think you all are right about it being acid. I dont have reflux but always have heartburn, go figure. My rheumatologist has me on protonix but at discharge it was one of the drugs to discontinue....i have my follow-up on Thursday and i will discuss with the dr restarting on it asap.

Its not pain but it is uncomfortable.

Thanks for responding!

Hi. I did a search but did not see anything that really fit this topic.

I woke up this morning feeling like I had a knot in my throat/chest. I haven't had anything to drink or eat since last night so I dont see that anything could be irritating anything. I've burped a couple of time which is unusual first thing in the morning.

I dont really know what to think, any thoughts? I'm not worried just uncomfortable.

Oh no! I cant imagine no kitchen. I wish for a speedy kitchen recovery for you
Topic: RE: what does it feel like to be full? i feel like i am missing signals or something
Honestly being different from the band is music to my ears! Lol

I will measure i do not want to learn the hard way if i dont have too
Topic: RE: what does it feel like to be full? i feel like i am missing signals or something
Ihave felt hungry but nothing like band hunger for me. Post-op for the band was miserable because i was sooooooooo hungry. With the sleeve i havent had terrible hunger and no tummy rumblings. Very manageable for me after the first week. The first week for me was tough mentally/physically but nothunger wise.
Topic: RE: what does it feel like to be full? i feel like i am missing signals or something
I know right! From what i read if we measure we should be good. I got a 1/4 c measuring cup and put it on the counter so i can remember to do it. I think that will help relieve some of the anxiety.
Topic: RE: what does it feel like to be full? i feel like i am missing signals or something
Good point. As i move into stuff like cottage cheese and refried beans i will be very careful to measure so i wont have that fear of overdoing it by accident and before my stomach and i get reacquainted.
Topic: RE: what does it feel like to be full? i feel like i am missing signals or something
I had surgery on the 23rd and have been on full liquids. Tomato soup, protein drinks, sf pudding, carb master yogurt, tried to make sf egg custard (didnt go too well). I have no pain or discomfort. I had heartburn once or twice but not severe. I am steadily losing. Getting all the fluids and proteins.

My problem is i dont ever feel full. I cant feel the food going through or down. When i had the band i felt everything. Going down, going through, not going through, getting stuck, gurgles, everything. Even to the extent of how restricted it was as my body rejected it. Now, there is nothing.

If i cant feel anything how do i learn when i am satisfied, when to stop. I know its a learning process but i am quite concerned how to learn in this situation.
