Topic: RE: !00 LBS Lost - Before & After Pics

I got on the scale this morning and I found that I hit my 100 lb WL milestone. Tears of joy filled my eyes while a sense of pride and accomplishment filled my soul. This feeling is so indescribable, all I can say is that It feels so unbelievably amazing to look down and see as proof on the scale, how far I’ve come and that all my hard work has truly paid off. I literally feel like walking outside and yelling at the top of my lungs "Hey world....I’ve lost 100 lbs!!!"

In March of 2010 I began my journey by starting a diet regimen to prepare for wl surgery which was prescribed by a specialist who I was sent to in order to treat my quick onset of diabetes. At that time I was also suffering from joint and back pain due to my obesity. Today my blood sugar levels are back to perfect normal and my joint pain is gone. I still have minimal back pain remaining but I also still have more weight to lose so I hold out hope that it will continue to decrease as my weight goes down.

I weighed in at 254 lbs at the Dr’s office on that day in March. My BMI was 44.9 putting me in the "Extremely Obese" category.

As of this morning I weigh 154 lbs with a BMI of 27.2, which is in the "Overweight" category. I have a mere 13 lbs to go until I can proudly claim that my BMI is in "Normal" range. If I can get there by Christmas, that will be all the gifts I need.

My PCP and the specialist had set the goal weight of 120 lbs but I am aiming for 134 which is 20 more lbs to go and as GOD as my witness I am going to get there....dont know when but I will!!

GOD BLESS ONE AND ALL!!

SEPTEMBER 2011 @ 154 LBS

Hi Elizabeth, If your Dr didn't give you a list of foods you can eat until you see him/her again then Id go with your gut and stick to the Popsicles and fudgesicles that you believe you're allowed to have.

If on clear liquids right now then the answer would be sugar free Popsicles only. Full liquids allow you to also have fudgesicles and (if you're allowed milk) creamsicles too.

Have a sleevy-great day

Topic: RE: will I ever get out of the obesity range?
I feel your pain, it happens to me every time I look forward to getting to a lower number. It's one of those blasted marker stalls and they aren't fun at all. I stalled at 201, then again at 190, 182, and 170 for a week as well. I always stall just before going into another number bracket and I hate it.

I must admit though that my transition from the obese category to overweight came without my knowledge and it was such a nice surprise. I'm sure it was the 'NOT' looking forward to it for which I  never stalled and so I kept losing weight the whole month long until I got there. I think relaxing and just doing what you're supposed to be doing and not even giving thought to a goal is key to not stalling so badly. The same thing happened to me with my half way point, I didn't think to check when it would happen until I was 7 or 8 pounds past it...lol duh at me but I know for sure it would have been  hindered if I were waiting for it to arrive.

Look at it this way....The more you want it the more you're going to stall out. Just relax, go with the flow, exercise, drink your water, take your vitamins, take your measurements (if you ever started doing that) and try to not think so much about the goal any more. You're doing fantastic...56 lbs gone by march is awesome. I bet you're down a few many more since then too :). Good luck to hun oh & I hope you had a great vacation too!

Topic: RE: OMG MY BMI
Is out of "obese" and at "overweight" level now!!!  29.7 is my new number.

I wasn't even thinking about that benchmark for myself but saw someone else mention it just now in a blog and thought "hmmm. wonder what I am now?" and looked. Low and mother freakin behold, I have graduated to an official smaller label. Good God I love my sleeve!!

I also missed my half way point benchmark and found that out about 7 lbs past it lol. I'm just cruising along, doing what I'm supposed to be doing and not really stressing over goals or benchmarks. This approach is really working for me and delivering such nice surprises for me along the way.

Just thought I'd share my glory with you all, keep those sleeves happy people, good night :)

Yay, this kinda makes me miss this phase of my journey......and then again not lol. It is exciting but I wouldn't take back these pounds lost for anything. You will do just fine, just follow all your Dr's instructions and any good rules of thumb you gathered from this neat place and have yourself a surgery and speedy, easy recovery! We'll see you when you get back.

Walk

Repeat
That is the golden rule here :)

Topic: RE: 4 Month Post Op Appointment
I am ecstatic!!! My blood work is, according to my surgeon, .... "GREAT!"

Before surgery I was.....
Borderline diabetic
Had high cholesterol
and was very low on vitamin D
Now my latest labs showed me to be in normal target zone for all!!!

Even though I haven't lost as much as most others who's surgery date is the same as mine, I am considered to be doing very well by my Dr.'s office, so I am relieved.
I have lost many inches and am shrinking day by day, so I dont care what the scale is trying to make me stress out about, I am doing very good for my own standards :)

I went clothes shopping after my appt to celebrate and confirmed that size 10 is my official pant size now and also found that I can wear both large and medium shirts...omg really, medium?  I cant believe it!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE x's a million!!

May you all  have the same success as I am feeling now!! Have a great 3 day weekend and God Bless.

Topic: RE: Zumba DVD and Pure Almond Milk

Are my 2 recent discoveries in the past week and I LOVE them both.

My dh got me Zumba Total Body Transformation for my b-day off of Amazon for $59 and it's worth it.  It's fun and boy am I sore so I know its working well.

Silk brand, unsweetened, Pure Almond Milk has only 35 calories / 1 carb that gets canceled out by the 1 g of fiber for a whole cup. It has 15% more calcium than fat free milk.  It's not great for protein but to mix it with protein powder makes a much tastier, delicious protein shake than does water.  I wont drink milk from an animal so water was my only choice until now for making my daily shake. It comes in vanilla  or regular flavor unsweetened. I've seen sweetened chocolate but not unsweetened :(

Just thought Id share with you whats working for me :)

Hey there "small guy" good going on the weight loss! 43 lbs is not much left to go, you're kicking some serious sleeve butt!
NSV's are the icing on the cake, don't ya just love em?!! I bet you wanted to grab that guy and give him a big kiss on the cheek....well okay maybe not but I'm sure he made your day none the less lol.
As for sharing your thoughts on being able to lose weight without the sleeve I simply don't because I know that it is one thing to be able to lose on my own and another to be able to keep it off. I've gone up and down in weight my whole adult life and every time I lost it, I would turn around and gain it back eventually, each time with a little extra too. I'm relying on this tool more so to keep me at goal then I am at helping me get there....maybe looking at it that way might help your thoughts on the matter too :)

Topic: RE: From Newbie To Veterans: How often to measure/photodocument?
Not a vet yet but still had a plan for this so I'll share anyways :)

I was just like you in the beginning with weighing everyday and seeing the lbs just melt right off of me but I think around the 3rd week I disciplined myself to only weigh in once a week.

I take a picture about every 25 lbs lost and I have planned on measuring every 3 months just to make sure I get a good lowered number each time...it must be my insecurity that I wont succeed and wont see any inches lost, I dont know but thats how I do it and its working. I took measurements the day before surgery and the end of April was 3 months s I took them again. I was able to log in my journal that I had lost a total of 28 inches and with a number like that who couldnt be proud :)

Congrats to you and your new sleeve, hope your journey is filled with joy :)

Topic: RE: Surgery tomorrow....need advice!!
First off congrats on your up and coming sleeve

Now to say that I am not one who lost their physical hunger. If I am over due for a meal, my stomach will growl and I will feel the need to eat...which I believe is hunger isn't it? I also deal with head hunger a couple days out of the week. When I'm more tired or its cold outside makes me want higher carb/calorie treats and its just something I have to deal with. It's the same as dieting when you have the sleeve you still have to use will power and discipline to not eat the bad stuff. Some days are glorious sleeve days where physical and head hunger just aren't an issue and seriously before surgery I never got those days, ever, so to have them be a part of my life now is a blessing. You have to take the good with the bad I guess and know that this sleeve wont do it all for you...it will give you those glorious days and it will stop you from over indulging in volume but you still have to work at it yourself too. Hey nothing in life worth while is ever easy right ?

Best wishes to you for a smooth surgery and recovery, see you back here soon!
