I agree with most here.  Do the best you can. It is really too early for you to worry about counting calories.

The bed was not easy but I forced myself to sleep there. Make your you are feeling a little better each day and if not, report this to your doctor.

Congrats!  You are doing great!  We all start counting from our highest weight (and by we all I mean me). The scale can be cruel at times but I have learned to just keep at it. Your body will lose the weight in time.

Topic: RE: Paxil post op
I used to take Paxil and found that it worked pretty well. But my doctor said that the saying in the medical community is "Pack on the pounds with Paxil" so she switched me to Cymbalta which I think works even better than Paxil did in controling my depression.

I overslept today and got a late start on the day so all I've had today is Premier Chocolate Protein Shake and a Sargento lite cheedar cheese stick.

Topic: RE: My amazing journey, 6 months out :)
Congratulations!  I'm 5 months out and I know what you mean. We have very similar goals.  Don't worry about what others think.  You need to be happy with your success.  If that is at 195 lbs then so be it!

Topic: RE: Lunches at work?
Even though I can eat "normal" foods, I still rely on the 4 - 5 once frozen cups of pureed foods from www.blossomfoods.com because they are high in protien and small in size and calories.  It really helps me stay on track because once I eat that, I know I am done regardless of what my brain might want me to do.

WOW! That's amazing! I wish I had done whatever it is you did.  I have the same goal as you (go from 325 to 175) and I'm 5 months out.  I'm happy with my progress, but much happier when I finally get to goal.

Topic: RE: Processed Foods
I think in general, processed foods are probably less healthy for you than foods made from "scratch" but I eat processed foods.  Especially like to eat lean cusine for lunch at work so that I can know exactly how many calories I am eating and have portion control.

So long as you like the taste, I think it is fine.  I use Premier Protien and it is 160 cal with 30G of protein and very low sugar.

Topic: RE: Surgery Scheduled
Everything you are feeling is normal. We all go through it. You will even wonder if there is a chance you can do this without surgery.  If you could have, you would have. Hang in there. One thing that really helped me prepare was to read a lot about other people's experinces. I can honestly say I had no surprizes and felt exactly the way I expected to feel. If you like, you can read my blog and she what my experince has been like. It will give you a sense of what to expect.

Topic: RE: Realistic recovery time?
My advice is to get a good bariatric team together -- surgeon, nutritionist, therapist, etc. and listen to what they say. I was in the hospital for 2 nights but many go home after just one night. I went back to work 6 days after I had my surgery and did not have too many issues with fatigue. I was never on any pain medication because of sleep apnea and the pain got better each day. Overall, the pain lasted about 3 weeks but as I said, it was never unbearable as I did not have any medication for it. The gas pain was worse than the pain from the incisions and it lasted about a week. I was told that I should not lift anything heavy for about two weeks and to be careful for about 6 - 8 weeks after surgery. I was also told that even though I would feel fine, that I'd still be healing for up to 3 months. If you'd like more information about how and what I did, please feel free to read my blog. I usually write in it a few times a week about weight loss surgery related stuff I'm experincing.
