Topic: RE: Goal Weight?? Help!!!

I can't decide on my goal weight. My surgeon didn't go over what he thought it should be. I guess I should have asked him that. I know there are several sites that can give me numbers but I would like to hear from other VSGer's!

If anyone has similar stats as I do (see below) can you let me know what your goal weight is.

I think 145 might be too aggressive for me.

Height - 5'8 1/2"
Age - 29
Bone Structure - Medium/Large
Current Weight - 223
Current Size - 16/18
Goal Size - 6/8
VSG - 10/20/2011

Thanks for any input, I appreciate you!!!

Try the Grape Isopure 20oz drink from GNC stores. It is clear liquid and not milky or thick like a shake or ready made shake. I cut mine with ice water and it tastes like a grape propel. Also, I found out that chewing gum while drinking it will take away any of the whey protein taste (there is just a tiny tiny bit of after taste in them but the gum fixes it and I can drink them no problem). Oh and each 20oz is 40 grams protein and 0 carbs. It is the best I have found so far.

Topic: RE: My Before pics make me want to PUKE!!
I think my biggest NSV is being able to start going to social functions again. I feel like I have closed off that section off my life because I don't want others to see me. So much so that I don't want to go to my kids functions either. So sad I did this to myself! Hang in there we will be fit and fan-tabulous soon!!!

I had my pre-op appt today with my surgeon and we did before pics. I was able to see them and was so ashamed. I try to stay behind the camera and haven't had my pic taken in a year or so. It is so sad to see how out of control my weight has gotten. I can't wait to be on the flip side and join you guys on the losers bench! On the upside I lost 3 pounds this week on my pre-op diet.

Yay, I so glad to find someone who has the same Dr. You are doing amazing with your VSG. Do you see a nutritionist? Do you mind if I add you to my Friends list so we can keep in contact?

I figured it out!! Just go to MY OH and then click on Start Page. Next to the rolling pic slide there is an edit button. You can pick VSG from the drop down.

How much does Dr. A charge for the sleeve. I have my surgery scheduled with a Dr. in the US for next week but it is very expensive and I am cash pay.  I am curious what Dr. A. charges since I am cash pay. Thanks.

Topic: RE: Lying about weight loss
I am right there with you. The only people that are in the "know" are my hubby and parents. I told my manager I was having a "girly" surgery. I am only taking off 2 days so it won't raise any suspicions. I work from home most of the time so I don't think work curiosity will be an issue in the short term. I will have to come up with a long term response to the weight loss. I am worried my family will find out and judge me; so I am going to have to load my plate up at the holiday get-togethers but we are hosting so I will be plenty busy "buzzing" around!

Topic: RE: Grape Protein Drink - Yummy - Not Milky
I am on my pre-op diet and have been struggling to find a protein drink that I like. I don't do vanilla and hate anything "milky" so the shakes were killing me.

I went to GNC last night on a "whim" and found the Isopure drink (in a glass bottle). They are the consistency of propel and you can see thru it. No gritty protein flavor at all and very similar to the taste of propel. I water it down and put crushed ice in it also.

One bottle has 40 grams of protein and 0 carbs...wowza! I am so happy to find something I can tolerate and before I have surgery to boot. I am taking it to the hospital with me for sure!!

Is there an official thread for before and after pics? I have been searching and can't seem to find one. I would love to see one and use others journeys as motivation/inspiration.

Topic: RE: Need a Sleeve Sister - October 20th???
I am 5'9" and 29 years old. I am on the killer pre-op diet (no liquid just high protein/low carb no meat) and it is very hard to stick to. I am so hungry and fighting my head hunger by the minute.

You sound like you have it all under control. I am super nervous about the surgery but can't wait to get it. I am so happy to get some energy back and keep up with my little ones.

I am looking into the post op protein options and just ordered the unjury sample pack from unjury.com. I am hoping I will like it and can tolerate it. The protein I am taking now is just from walmart and is so yucky. I can hardly get it down.

Wow, you are an amazing inspiration. I am pre-op and have similar stats. Do you mind sharing your secrets or plan of action with us? I would love to be as successful as you my first 3 months. Any protein ideas for right after surgery. The shakes are just yucky!!!

Yay! That sounds wonderful. Our stats and goals look to be very similar. My home life is similar, I still cook a normal meal for the hubby and the kiddos but don't eat with them. I try to piddle in the kitchen and keep myself busy so I don't wreak my pre-op diet more than I already have.

What protein are you taking? I can't find anything I like and am tired of wasting money on stuff that is yucky!

I think the Angel program is where someone adopts you "so to speak" and they keep in phone contact with you in the hospital. I am super uber curious about it and will do some research and report back pronto!

Topic: RE: Need a Sleeve Sister - October 20th???

I am having my surgery on Thursday, Oct 20th and am hoping to find someone else having surgery that day to be my sleeve sister.

Also, does anyone know what this Sleeve Angel stuff is about?

I don't have any support at home so I would love to make a few connections here. Thanks!

First off, GO RANGERS..eekkk. The game last night was amazing. The cheers that erupted from our home last night were probably heard miles away..haha!

Second, I can't help I am still pre op but my main goal is to regain my energy so I feel like keeping up with my babies. I will be following the responses to your thread!

I am on my pre-op diet and have surgery on Oct. 20th. I have these thoughts like "I will never be able to eat this again" so I want to cram it in before surgery. I am setting myself up to fail and doing a really horrible job with my pre op diet. Did anyone else do poorly with preop and then do fantastic post op?

I have been gearing up for this surgery for 4 years and am so ready but am having last minute anxiety, is this normal?
