Hi Kathy,  I will be 5 years post op at the end of the month.  About 1 year after my RNY, I began to have this horrible pain in my chest, mainly on the right side.  The pain started on the right side under the breast and then it radiated over my sternum.  The pain became so unbearable, I was unable to work ( I am a nurse).  I had to take pain medicine that turned me into a zombie.  The pain continued for over 2 and a half years!  It got so bad, I wanted to die.  They never did find the cause so they started to say it was either nerve pain or even "in my head".  I have never felt worse in my life!  Only by the Grace of God did it go away!  Seriously, I was wanting to die I was so miserable.  I started to pray to ask God to take it away and that is just what He did.  Now I am back to normal and can work and be a wife and a mother.  I was just wondering if you had the same type of pain?  I hope you are not hurting like I was. Sara, I noticed your Dr. and my mother is 60 years old, has been morbidly obese her entire life and just had Dr. LePort do a lap RNY in January.  She is doing well and was really impressed with him.  Athough we live at different ends of the state after my experience she went forward with hers.  I am so excited to see her progress through pictures and e-mails.  I had not seen Dr. LePort's name on this site  before, so just thought it was kind of cool.  I also enjoyed this little excercise, it was interesting to see other's information. Take care, Helen

Somebody knows what I'm talking about.  All of the compliments make me feel uneasy.  My weight is always a conversation piece and that drives me nuts.  Nobody else seems to understand. Lynn
I am finding that in time, people have stopped talking.  I guess the people that knew me before have adjusted to the new me, and the people that didnt know me before, think that I am just in good shape.  Time takes care of it.  Just know, that you are better than before!  :-)
