Topic: RE: Day 5, 5DPT, Now it's Back to Basics!

Well, I am now done as well. Esp since it is 1:00 am here and have a fussy baby that is keeping me up! Ugh I really stuck to the plan and did not incorporate salads or anything else into it. My one thing I ate outside of the protein was some cooked brocoli and cauliflower last night with my steak.  I have found yesterday and today that I am not hungry in the least. Not only no carb craving but not hungry, period. Way cool! And amazingly enough when I weighed myself this morning....................I am down 6.5 pounds! WooooT. That is a huge loss for me. I tend to drop one and then sit there forever. I am excited to see what the morning scale reading is.  Hope everyone else was successful with the 5dpt!! Take care

Topic: RE: Day 4, How's it Going for You?

Hi Julie: Well, it is almost midnight here and heading to bed. Today was great. I dont have any carb cravings and am really not hungry in the least. Day two was the hardest for me but I got through it!! Drinking hot decaf tea is a huge help for me. When I was needing something sweet on day 2, s/f Jello really hit the spot. I can sure tell that my pouch is "tighter"  A big thing for me to overcome is drinking with my meals. It is a bad habit that came back with I was pregnant. So, that has been a big goal for me during this. I literally have to time myself so I dont drink before 30 mins but I am doing it. Ugh! A bonus for me is that I am down 4 pounds as of this morning. Woot! Have a great evening!

Hi all: Well, I am most of the way through my day already. I am in Germany and it is 5:30 pm here already.  So far so good. I have had 2 protein shakes, tons of decaf tea, water and 1 cup of chicken broth. Getting ready to have some jello or more broth.  I also got in a good, brisk 40 min walk. It is cold, brrrr! But, it was good to get outside for exercise.  Have a great day everyone! Stay strong.

Beth: Glad to see that you are going to join us! I just had a "post op" baby and am trying to get that extra wt off. I let my weight creep up  over the past couple of years and was almost 20#s heavier than my lowest wt when I got preggo.  Have you checked out the post op pregnancy board? It is a great place with tons of info. Lots of TTC women as well. Take care

Topic: RE: 5 Day Pouch Test

Hey Tina!!!  I found that I actually had more calories than normal when doing the 5dpt. I just really upped my protein shakes to help combat the hunger and it did help. The second day was harder for me than the first. Try hard to stick to the plan of liquids the two days. It is hard but I know that you can do it!!

Hiya girly!! The 5dpt was awesome, I am so glad that I did it. I, not only lost 6 pounds in the 4 days that I did it, I totally got rid of my carb/chocolate cravings. That was the main reason I did it, was to get back into control.  How are you and your fam?? How was Thanksgiving. Nice to hear from you. Take care

Topic: RE: Post-Op 3 Years - Gaining Back Weight

K: Here are my thoughts. I am 4.5 years out and just had a baby 11 weeks ago.  Start keeping track of every SINGLE thing that you put in your mouth. I think you will be very surprised as to how much you may be eating. Or what you are eating. I can eat pretty much anything now and have to really pay close attention each and every day to what I eat. I almost never eat over 1100 calories but I tend to eat wayyy too many carbs. If I eat carbs no matter how many cals it is,  I gain and cant lose for the life of me. My body is just screwed up!! LOL I am starving if I dont really watch what I eat. I have terrible trouble with hypoglycemia as well, again if I eat carbs, not even sweets.  So, start logging every bite. I use www. sparkpeople.com.  If you wish you can post your food diary here and we can help you take a look at it. Best of luck. BTW: totally agree that you need to have your thyroid checked.

Hi Carla: I am going to join you on your accountability post when I am done with the 5dpt. I post everyday on the accountability thread on the post op pregnancy board. Question??? I have been following your posts and I am confused--do you really mean  0.1 oz or is it supposed to be 1 oz? And 0.1 cup?? 1/10 cup of pasta? Can you even measure that?? I have a great digital scale but I dont think it goes to the 10th of an ounce. Thanks

Good luck to you as well!! I have a couple of incentives, I cant fit into ANYTHING pre preggo, ugh! And we will be seeing family in about 6 weeks time. Mainly, I just need to get back to the basics and focus on eating well.
