it's called Alopecia areata. I had it several times during my 30s - 40s.  My Mom had it too.  The hair will grow back; it's caused by the nerve endings dying in that area of the scalp, or at least that what the dermatologist told me.  There are various treatments.  I had one about the size of a tennis ball one time on the back of my head.  The doc injected it with cortizone; not really sure it helped any.  the hair always grew back, but very slowly.

There is a liquid med that you can run on it but it's prescription and you'd have to see a doctor.  I don't remember what it was called.

Don't worry too much but if you want to do some reading... just google Alopecia areata and you'll get lots of info.

    Topic: RE: Peanut Buster Parfait

Hi BJ, I can totally relate to your situation.  Before my RNY, DQ Cookie Dough Blizzards with chocolate syrup were by addiction.  Lucky for my pouch, both DQs here in my county have closed so I can't get them anymore.  I'm not sure if I have the willpower to eat just a little if I could get one.  My hubby and I do share a cup of ice cream from Sam's or McDonalds sometimes.

I don't really have the full fledged dumping syndrome but my heart rate will take off with too much sugar, especially if I eat it too quickly and I just don't feel normal for about an hour so I have to be careful.

I do miss the DQ though, especially when they run commercials on TV....  it's just heartless!

Topic: RE: somebody talk to me about bounceback...

    Hi Diane,

I'm in the same boat you are and we are about the same post-op timeframe.  I "bounced back" about 3-4 pounds and have held steady there but I still want to get those extra pounds off.  I admit I eat too many bad carbs and am working to cut them out, but they are nasty little buggers... they call my name all the time.  Each morning I try to get back on track, some days I'm better at it than others.  This week, I'm back to recording everything I eat and I know that works for me.

Sorry, I have no suggestions other than that...  good luck!  Alice

    Topic: RE: Tailbone Trauma

I've had tailbone pain since about 9 months post op. It is not constant, but flairs up ever so often.  The only thing that has helped are those ****yx cushions.  I have one in my office, one in the car and one at home....

Topic: RE: abdominal pain after eating raw veggies/fruit

Thanks for the info.  I haven't had problems with anything coming up... it's just bad, gas like gut pain.  I haven't had this problem with other foods.

Topic: abdominal pain after eating raw veggies/fruit

    Hi all, ..

I've been eating more raw veggies and fruit lately since there are so many of my favorites in season now.  The problem is that I've been experiencing more abdominal pain and cramping afterwards.  I'm just wondering if any of you post-ops have had similar problems....

Thanks for any feedback you wish to share.

    Topic: RE: Scale?

I weigh most mornings, same time, in birthday suit.  It keeps me on track better than anything does.  It's a daily reminder to eat right and exercise.

    good luck!  Alice

    Topic: RE: Vitamin survey

Hi, I'm 19 months out and I take one Centrim Silver, 1 Calcium citrate petite w/D and 1 B12 tablet a day.  My labs have been very good so far.  I also try to drink milk and/or eat yogurt daily for extra calcium.
