She married a guy about 7 years ago because she needed insurance and he didn't want to live alone. Today she called me in tears because they don't love one another and he doesn't respect her. Well they didn't exactly get married for love and respect, you know? She doesn't understand why she's not in wedded bliss. I reminded her why she got married and her husband is just as much of a creepy jerk as he was before they married. I can't stand him, he's one of those guys who is NEVER wrong, he NEVER makes a mistake, he NEVER does anything wrong. One kinda funny thing, his daughter has a car that has been sitting in their driveway for 2.5 years. Now, they live in a beautiful home in a nice area and there is this crappy car that my sis hates. The more she pushed to have him get rid of it the more he refused. So I told her there are usually laws about these things. As a favor to her I called the city she lives in, pretended to be an annoyed neighbor, and they sent an inspector out. He has 21 days to move the car or they will move it for him at a high price and a fine. Heh... I can't stand that man, it was a joy to do. He has a real complaint from a neighbor for not shoveling the side walk, same thing happened, he was given a certain number of days to get it done. Turns out, three strikes and it becomes a criminal offense and a huge fine. I'm trying to think of anything I can call and complain about for a 3rd time. heh..... I don't feel bad about the car though, my sis is not steady on her feet and she had to walk around this car in the middle of winter, on a driveway at a slant with ice. She kept falling because of this car. Anyway, she called me today with her latest list of meds... the drugs cause more problems and she needs more meds for the drugs causing problems. It's insanity. Will Chrones be exacerbated or relieved by mal absorption? We know nearly always diabetes and hypertension are usually relieved immediately and over time after wls respectively. Clotting disorder can complicate any procedure. You've got some specialized research to do and wil likely need many additional clearances with the usual. Know which procedure is most successful with your conditions then seek out surgeons with a good track record for high risk patients. Personally, I selected my preferred procedures then the surgeons to be considered. Good luck to you. Overeaters Anonymous: Keep comming back, just one day at a time. I have the same issue and I have tried replens. It does lubricate much better than ordinary lubrication. It is like a pill form that you insert vaginal prior to sex. However it does take the spontaneity out of the sexual act. You need to insert it about an hour prior. It says on the label that it helps vaginal dryness for up to three days. It doesn't . You would be able to use one dose for the two days but on sunday I would add a bit of the regular lubrifier. The KY pearls are not recommended. They lubrication jelly gushes out and stains. My gyno gives me an estrogen pill which you insert in the vaginal twice a week. It really helped and I cannot take an hormones due to a heart condition. Inserting it in the vagina minimizes the absorption level in the bloodstream (only one twelve of it is absorbed). I found that this method was the most effective. |

Throw away the age limitations. No such thing as long as you're stll living. Its a tough question. I read so much about going out in public or keeping up with little kids. Those were never my issues and kids are adults now but its too soon for grand kids. I've been as active a fat adult as I was as a chubby teen. Even mphysically ore active than thin friends and co workers. |

Love, career, an active life, were never impeded by obecesity. I've always done what I wanted to do and done well. So this brings me to the what's next after wls question. Superficial, but I've always dressed stylishly classic. Now places like Anne Taylor and Ralph Lauren are right in my size range and I am loving the clearance racks. Stillettos are much more comfortable now too, lol. With no minors around I can do what I want, go where I want and enjoy adult outings with the former kids in my life. I don't look like someones old matron of a mom. I get attention from the young guys now. Too bad I like older men which at forty eight is the AARP set, lol. I'm no cougar but the thirtyish fellas find me attractive and that's so flattering. So I'm still looking for what lifestyle change major wl has afforded me. I'd like something more than designer clothes or screwing men young enough to date my daughter if I wanted to. Perhaps I'll get slender enough to becme a trophy wife for some guy with one foot in the grave. They seem to like women skinny. Not exactly a life time achievement but think of all the designer clothes I could buy, lol. |

How has wls as a Fab Forty changed your lifestyle? At out age things are often pretty settled. Career path is set. Families complete. We may be settled in relationships; or already divorced once or even twice; or content on our own. Kids are older or grown so pysically keeping up with them is not an issue while kids working our last nerve is. We're not like the twentyish looking for that speial someone for the first time and starting out on careers. Nor are we like the thirtyish struggling with younger kids or even infertility as the biological clock slows. Its too soon to dwell on the treasures and problems (hopefully) of the golden years. I'm not wrinkled but I have a general sagginess in the center of my face. I have "brackets" around my nose and mouth now. My face has gone from a full oval to long and thin. Then there is the turkey neck, lol. Wl has aged me at least ten years in six months. I hate that. However, I'm at my teen weight and twenty or so pounds from my ideal weight. What a trade off. Sooooo, I style my hair differently to minimize the 'old shrew' look. And, I'm searching to find that right skin tightening formula in cosmetic items. A plastic surgeon gave me a quick evaluation at one of the OH conferences this fall. He insists the skin will tighten within a year to eighteen months after I hit my botton weight. He would not reccomend I do anything before giving the skin that amount of time to adjust. I sure hope he is right. Overeaters Anonymous: Keep comming back, just one day at a time. I had always been mistaken for 10-15 years younger than I am. I still get told I don't look my age (just turned 40 last summer), but it's not as dramatic a difference. Luckily my skin is still fairly tight (thanks Mom for the genes!). My wrinkles way more evident now - which makes sense since there isn't as much fat behind them to plum them out. My main issues is that I now have dark circles under my eyes and they are always puffy. Everyone at work always says how tired I look and ask if I am sick. (I am niether..) I have been using some Olay stuff that is 2 parts. One goes under the eye and the other on the lid. It has helped a tiny bit on the wrinkles. For the puffiness I bought one of those roller stick things. It works about 20% of the time lol (sorry for the lack of correct names - I'm not real girly and not a regular user of makeup or 'products'... this is the first time I've ever had to put stuff on my face :( ) |

My face had done the grand morphing stage and I was sure it was gosh darn ugly!! I have been using this faithfully for a year and the results have been good. When I go with out it, I can really see the groves and lines. So, it helps to hide those. I am guessing there must be some kind of chemical in it that makes the skin puff up into those spaces LOL I also spread it down on to my neck line and I think it may have helped a bit there too. I am using the same bottle for a year and will be replacing it I would guess around the end of January. I guess for all that, the price was ok. If a guy gets involved with you now, who would be turned off by saggin boobs, guess what - you'll be facing the same issue in a few years, if you stay involved. BE your best. love yourself as you are. get'm worked on later if you want to and can afford it, but know that there really is more to sexiness than having a certain kind of body. it's attitude. Know or work on learning this now, and you will be much happier in middle age. Just my .02. All my hubbie asks of me - has ever asked of me - is that i make the most of what i have, and be proud. I'm not saying i never feel insecure about my body in the bedroom - i always feel that way! I'm just saying HE doesn't, and it hasn't stopped him from dating me, loving me, marrying me fat (even though he hated fat), loving me with gray hair, loving me heart, sould, and body even with sagging, aging boobs. Not saying he doesn't want and expect me to work on myself, but he really does love me for me. That's a man worth dating IMO. It's a hard lesson to learn but you really shouldn't waste your time or yourself on a man who would accept or not accept you based solely on your boobs. and my husband, by the way, is a total boob man. i have to say i think it's his favorite part of my anatomy. For the record... some unsolicited advice... don't date guys under forty. They still largely have their heads up their ass. Even the forties are kind of dicey. Remember they are neurologically socially retarded and need a few years on us females (like, ten?) just to break even. for any guy reading this thread... sorry! ![]() |

Especially if your Primary Care supports you. I consulted with my surgeon BEFORE the 6 month supervised diet and saw his nutritionist and psychologist and attended his support group - and was able to listen to many people discuss their lapband and rny experiences. It was VERY helpful in deciding to have rny - for many of the reasons you mentioned - but also because it seemed to me to be a long term solution to keep the weight off. Make sure the surgeon you are considering is IN network - all I paid for surgery was $25 copay for office visits pre and post-op and a few dollars here and there for labwork. The actual surgery didn't cost a dime out of pocket. Good for you getting this under control so young - I wish I had done this 20 years ago! If there is anything else you want to know, feel free to send me a PM and I will do my best to help you out. Best of luck to you! Diane |

During that time I attended the support group for my WLS surgeon and saw a nutritionist monthly - gradually I made changes here and there in my eating habits because this is a change in lifestyle - not a diet - and I lost 79 pounds in that year before surgery. Yes, I lost 8 or so on the 2 week liquid diet pre-op (and its bumpy the first 3 days or so, to say the least) but its all worth it in the end. That made my surgery safer and easier to recover from - AND its 79 pounds less that I have to lose now post-op. My weight loss has been a little slower than some people experience in the first 3 months (I am exactly 3 months out TODAY) but 44 pounds in 3 months is ok with me, and I barely recognize the woman in the BEFORE photo. Sure, I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I didn't put it on over night. Also - start taking at least multi vitamins and calcium now - get in the habit and go into your surgery with good nutritional levels. Good luck with everything - have a safe, uncomplicated surgery! I'm always out there in the real world. Just haven't found the next Mr RightNow yet. I'm on no great man hunting mission. The goal is to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. Meeting for just one cup of coffee accomplishes my mission. I'm still out there with some prospects but no one I'm really into on either front. Good thing I'm happy to be single, lol. |

I would have to say you will be better served to do a face to face/speeddating kind of deal. Online dating has proven to be a dud for me. I've tried POF, Match.com, Chemistry.com, E-Harmony.. it's all the SAME people on there. Get out there, smile pretty and you will likely have better luck. Stephanie |

(I have not been in a relationship for more than 15 years due to my obesity), and any other "costs" that may result from having the surgery. I would think, from a health standpoint, the surgery would outweigh (pun intended!) the risks I could have with my Crohns disease, and maybe even from the blood clotting issues.
