I've never been much of a drinker but since surgery, I've had a couple of sips...  really just a few sips.  And, wow!  They felt awesome!  I felt like my eyes glazed over and it was like... wow, this is nice!  Such a nice mellow.  Just thinking about it makes my eyes glaze over.  Yum....

So.... I know that my body is responding differently to alcohol post surgery.  Way differently!  Like the other commenter said, I'd be REALLY careful!  Sounds like brain based addiction.  After a surgery, I was given Oxycodone.  Nice stuff...  I liked being on it.  Liked the relaxed feeling I got from it.  But when it was time to stop taking it, it was like a siren song in my head for weeks!  I still have some left over and the surgery was about a year and a half ago.  I was able to stop, but I had to actively resist.

Sounds like it might be time to go full abstinence.  I really hope you are able to work through this and not fall into that hole!  Because it's a dark one....

     Hi Bunnet,

You sound to me like you might be peri-menopausal -- hope I'm spelling that right.  The sleep issue is a big, big clue.  A lot of women going into that have a terrible time sleeping.  I recommend going to your OBGYN.  Might also be that your body's hormone's just need time to get settled after losing so much wt so quickly.  The low, low sex drive is also a clue.  I recommend talking to your gyno.  Get your hormone levels checked and take things from there.  Hope it gets better for you soon!

You made this old 60 year-old Texas girl's heart smile with that picture.  I too am truly sorry if anyone was offended, but my faith and confidence is so restored as I too have that elastic skin, am looking forward to my surgery next month and have been secretly trying not to worry as I currently weigh 360 and I know I shall not have money for plastic surgery, it took me so long and so much advocation and problems with getting jthe WLS, I shall really be motivated to walk and drink tha****er knowing there is just hope that I may do pretty well following that protocol to my best ability.  Your pictures are great, bless you for having persevered, god bless Texas and carry on!  thanks again, all blessings to you.and yours!

    Topic: HELP!!!

OK,i am 71/2 months out and i have already hit my goal weight. but i have a lot of things that are happening and i just can't get any answers from my doc but "don't worry it will all work out when your healed". if anyone can please help me i would love you for it. i have been on my own in this journey so far and i am very lost. as for my weight go's i look fabulous and i am happy with it. now for the problems. i have NO sex drive at all, when i get my period i get so *****y and i want to eat everything i come in contact with. i lose all self control with eating when my period hits.this never happen before surgery. also i have no desire to exercise. my brain is telling me i need to exercise but my body isn't moving. has this happen to anyone? should i still be eating every 2hrs.? i also can't sleep though the night. so then i am sleepy all day. i am so worried about gaining my weight back. i am still losing at this time and that is a good thing. to day i am 136! and i am happy for that. so if anyone is out there i really need a friend that knows what is going on. thank's

I'm still in perimenopause... For me, it is the sleepless nights that were the first sign. I've had a few hot flashes and some dryness as well, but not sleeping is the opposite of what I normally do! Talk with your gyn about it! Or, call Planned Parenthood. They have free info!

Topic: 21 days and counting till surgery
i'm waiting (quite impatiently I might add) for my surgery.  My hubby had lapband almost 2 years ago, so i know a bit of what to expect and as a result i'm not really anxious about the surgery.  I'm more anxious about the after effects, particularly the problem of loose skin.... i know the weight is the biggest issue and becoming more healthy, but is there really anything I can do to help prevent or lessen the loose skin issue?????

    Topic: RE: Menopause
I started with the perimenopause around 41.  Hot flashes are fun...had one every night between 11-12 for months.  Along with others during the day, of course.  Incontinence, also a blast.

My sleep got pretty irregular for a bit.  Vaginal dryness which had never been an issue before...sorry if that's TMI.

It's been more than 7 months since my last cycle so I may make a complete year without one which means I have officially entered menopause.

Honestly the hot flashes were the big sign for me.  Being fat I had always had problems with overheating easily but the hot flashes are different or they were for me.  Sort of like getting hot from the inside out.

Topic: I now look like a Shar Pei!
I'm 44 and I guess with all the fat that was filling out my face, there were no wrinkles. I've now lost 92 lbs since my highest weight, and I feel like a Shar Pei dog!!!! I'm using creams on my eyes and neck, and face, but it's not helping.

What is the best eye cream and face/neck creams that don't cost major money?

I'm 44 and nine years ago had a partial hysterectomy. (kept my ovaries)
So without the obvious signs of my periods stopping, what should I be looking for
and at what age did you go through menopause?

I have Herniated Disk, my weight gain aggravated this to no end! I could barely grocery shop without being in severe pain. Since WLS, I still have the Herniated Disk, however no pain! I can walk without back pain and no Shortness of Breath or Heart Palpitations!! If you continue to read other posts on the various forums you will find that most WLS patients do improve in their health! Good luck to you!!

I started individual therapy prior to having surgery. It's already helping, even though I have a ways to go. I just feel ready to keep this weight off now, when even 2 years ago I didn't feel that way.
