Good Morning. Been pondering this "lab error"

Ok, DS lesson number 1. DSrs malabsorb 80% of the fat they eat. It never reaches our blood streams, arteries or hearts, etc... My most recent labs are back and here are some of my typical numbers leading up to the last draw. The first column is pre-op in 2007. Now DH and I both think the Triglycerides in July 2010 is a lab error and is throwing everything else off. I could even buy 74 instead of 174. Thoughts?

Have you been eating the margarine out of the tub again? That's probably the ONLY way you'd see those numbers - and you'd have to eat a lot of it!

I'd do a redraw and see what happens.

lol I'm a wimp DSr and don't go out of my way to eat a lot of fat. I think you're right about the redraw.

It would appear that they got your tube of blood mixed up with someone else's! I vote for a redo! Unless of course you are eating margarine out of the tub! LOL

I just can't think what could have happened to the blood to return that number or the tech saw 74 and said "that can't be right, I'll add another 100".

Good luck on your labs in Aug. I'll post mine when the rest come in. I'm afraid to see the vitamin Bs and anxious to see the PTH.

This totally makes me wonder about my last labs. Everything was wonderful except my Triglycerides, which were high for the first time in my entire life. They were fine pre-op when I was morbidly obese. I have basically cut out all shrimp, which was a staple item after surgery, till I realized how high the cholesterol was. But you don't absorb that, so ???

Gina, I think I would want a redraw also although my insurance won't pay for it except every 3 months.
This wasn't the day after you ate a ribeye was it???
Do you think maybe some of the hormone medicine might be elavating this?

Everything is so different after the surgeries we had because of the malabsorption.
Did your doctor make any suggestions?
I should get my 1 year results next Thursday.
