My 7th month doc appt and my docs take on eating!

Yesterday I had my 7 month check up. My doctor was so amazed at how I am doing as far as the weight loss. 97 lbs so far! Yes, it has slowed down but losing nevertheless. He said to expect a 4-6 lb loss a month now which is what I did last month (5 lbs). I am eating a little more which finally kicked me in the butt to exercise. I did my first mile this morning on the treadmill with a pretty good incline and did not get out of breath once. I am going to also start the couch to 5K program soon.

I also talked to him about calories and he said not to worry so much about that. He said when I hit goal that I should be at between 1400-1800 depending on what exercising I do. Now I will be eating around 1000-1200 a day and if I eat the higher to definately exercise.

And as far as what I am eating. I mentioned how I hear to stay under 30 grams of carbs. He looked at me cross-eyed and told me I'd starve. I asked about carbs and just like in Garth Davis' book said to eat healthy complex carbs. I asked him about Oro Wheats Healthy Protein bread with peanut butter for breakfast and he said that's good. And he said get my carbs through fruits and said banana's are good. (my only fruit I love)

Anyway I didn't get fat on eating too many bananas! lol

So I shall continue on in my new lifestyle and be good at what I do and make healthy choices in all walks of life.

Melissa, you are doing so WELL.  Awesome wt. loss!! The exercise will kick up the metabolism and wt. loss.  Congrat on the walking.  I think walking is as good as running in the long haul.  How much more do you want to loose?  Best of luck.

I originally set a goal of 160 but I think maybe 150 now. Which I think is doable. I mean...if I stayed at 175 forever I'd be fine with that but 150-160 is good. :)

Glad to hear your visit went so well.  Good for you for starting to exercise-I am definitely slacking in that department.  Now that I seem to be in a stall I need to get serious about it.  Did you see Dr. Q?  I've been seeing Dr. Tovar when I go for my check ups.  My next one is in September.

Thanks Shellie! Yes, I seen Dr. Tovar. That was my first time meeting him. He seems nice enough. My next one is October.

Well you certainly won't starve on limited carbs, but it is refreshing to find a surgeon who has a moderate point of view on diet.  You are doing great!

Thanks henry. I guess we have to look at it realistically. Carbs didn't get me where I am....Fast food was the culprit. So eating at home is much safer even if I have whole wheat toast it sure beats a Big Mac! lol

Fast food is exactly what did me in too. It has a grip on my family. I hate it!
