I just put an offer in on a condo that Tom and I looked at last week.  Its a foreclosure, so anything can happen, but I was told yesterday there hasn't been any offers yet.  The price is half of what they're going for on the market - and it needs nothing but a good cleaning and maybe a little paint...

Keeping my fingers crossed this works out!  Third times the charm, as this will be the 3rd place I've tried to buy in the past 18 months - all either foreclosures or short sales....

No - we're not buying it together, I'm buying it by myself.  He already has a house, and with Michigan's property tax laws, if you have more than 1, one is NOT considered a homestead and the taxes are outrageous.  So this will be mine, with me living there.... or rather, my son living there - lol.

He did go look at it with me.  He has his builders license and has built several houses, so he was able to use the "critical" eye and see where shortcuts were taken...

Exciting!  I have a good feeling about this one!  With all the great things that are happening for you right now I don't see this one slipping away either!  When do you find out if your offer is accepted? 

Not sure when I'll find out.  I had to jump through some hoops after I posted this, and I'm not real happy about it, but it is what it is.  I think everyone is happy now.... since its a foreclosure anything can happen...

I'm a little nervous about it and trying NOT to make it an emotional issue, but its a business transaction.... hard to do though!

Well Jody as you know if something is meant to be it will be!  I'm sure you are learning A LOT about purchasing forclosed homes throughout this process.....maybe all those "missed opportunities" were meant to be learning experiences!  I hope it all works out for you!

Yes, I've learned quite a bit - one of them is not to get too anxious. 

I also believe "if it was meant to be it will be"... a motto I've lived by a lot.  The other missed opportunities I was unhappy with, but it worked out for the best.

Oooo - I've been to Owen Sound before!  Beautiful there! 

I love decorating!  It does need some updating, but nothing that can't wait.  I want to wait for about a year before I start thinking of doing any kind of major upgrades.  Actually I was saying that after my son moves out is when I may replace the carpeting... he's a "bachelor" through and through!!

Tom lives 45 minutes out of town in a small town.  His place isn't nearly big enough for all my "stuff"... and I'm not willing to downsize much. My daughter said its an "expensive storage unit" but it will serve many purposes, and one being a place for her to stay when she comes to visit.  Also, it will be nice to have a place "in town" for when we want to shop, eat out, weather bad (for me so I don't have the commute), son live there, weekends away, etc...
