Good Morning. 97 degrees and 51% humidity

...and I walk in this stuff! Maybe I should say swim or bathe. It's definitely going to be a challenge today to get out there and walk. People look at me like I'm crazy when I put my raincoat and Bogs on to walk in the rain--that's pleasant compared to walking when it gets hot and humid like we're in for today. When I'm out there in the heat I try to think about how cold I was in winters past when the wind was up and the temp was around 20 degrees.

What kind of mind games do you play to make your least desirable workout activities doable?

When I walk, its with the dogs and between the 2 of them, I don't have a chance to think about anything else.  Keeping them untangled  and out of trouble takes my whole effort.  Maybe you need to take Newton with you? Actually, I know you walk at work.

I always do what I don't like first. LOL We have been going to a local aboretum a few times a week and walking. There are hills all through it but one certain one is a killer. I make sure we go that way first to get it over with.

Make sure you take some water with you, Gina! I freeze a bottle each for us when we go on our walks. Stay safe!
Making sure you stay hydrated in this heat is enough to think about...I'm not sweating like I have in years past but I am definitely EFFECTED!!!

This morning I thought "oh do I really want to exercise today" - then convinced myself it was a good idea, otherwise I hit all that nasty traffic!  With me coming in earlier I can now take 28 and it shaves 20 minutes off my commute.  I'm just plan lazy if I don't!  Such good incentive...

It was cooler in the gym, but the humidity was still up there.  Now they've got the AC so cranked up here at work, I may have to go outside just to warm up...

I was in Virginia and New York the last couple of weeks.  I forgot about that humidity!  I did a lot of walking in the rain.  At least it wasn't too hot when I was there.

Ive been doing a hike in the Redwoods 4x a week.  One trail is 5.5 miles, the other is 7.7.  It kicks my tush going up the long hills every time. I feel like i start to recover and the next one ones up.  I just keep telling myself how happy I'll be with myself when it's over!  I'm seeing some benefit to my legs so that's wonderful too.  Plus the real advantage is burning more calories and my metabolism improving.

On the off days I walk 3-5 miles and do some weights.

    Hang in there East Coasters!

You are such an inspiration to me.  I remember when your ankle was hurt and you were stuck with no walking.  Makes me realize, someday my knee will be ok too.
