I was taking 50,000iu a day and have cut back to 5,000 a day. Mine also was quite high when I was taking 5,000 a day (and I remember when my lab said they changed the way D was being calculated). I switched to 50,000iu once a week and found I tended to forget/miss it for some reason or another. I'm better if I take the same thing everyday- thus the 50,000 a day there for awhile. I also found when I wasn't taking Vit D daily, (even when I was taking the 50k once a week) I got sick... first 2 years post-op I took my D faithfully every day and didn't get sick once.
I need to get new labs. I just changed to 5,000 a day, but I hadn't been as diligent in taking my vits earlier this year - so I need to see where I'm at. Will be interesting.
