Hi everyone!  I'm home (been back since 11ish)  My daughter made me some lunch and my much needed coffee fix, oh, and had to check my work email.

They didn't do a general anesthesia, but a "heavy sedation" with local applied at the foot.  The result is less anesthesia hangover and fogginess.  You really do feel better quicker.  It was a 2 hr surgery.

Well Roz, wish I had good news for you, but my foot was "worst case scenario".  I had multiple bone spurs, cartilage GONE so I needed an implant to replace that, as well as what they called a "partial replacement".  Still not sure what that means.  He also had to go in and realign my toe bones so they wouldn't rub on each other - I'm wondering if that's what he meant by "partial replacement".  I've got 2 screws holding my bone together...

I'm too young for a whole joint replacement (like hip, etc) but this will get me by until I'm in my mid 60's (he said).  He said I'll be happy with the end result.

AND - they said NO driving for 4 weeks!  My daughter told him "you just made my life hell - lol".  He said "we'll reevaluate at the first appt".

I have to stay on top of the pain drugs and keep it elevated with ice.  My daughter just left for home to take a nap cause she has to work tonight.  I do have a boot on it, and can do some very light weight bearing with crutches.  I mostly put the weight on my heel.

And yes, the roads were not good this morning, but on the way back were ok. They're calling for more snow, so we'll see.
