Height DOES matter!

So I'm a WLS lightweight and my hubby thinks I'm being ridiculous but I can't get over this. When I went for my initial consult, I told them I was 5 ft 0 inches. They said they needed to be exact so they measured me and got me in at 5 ft 1 inch- because I had my hair in a bun that day!! That makes a huge difference to me- AND the insurance company, especially since I am right under 200 lbs so approval isn't guaranteed. I had my hubby measure me at home and, yep, I'm 5 ft nothing, same as ever but I know insurance goes by first weigh in. I feel like saying something and making them change it but at the same time I don't want to make the doctor mad. Aah- what do I do? I feel like giving up and I've come so far. 4 months of NUT appointments, I passed the psych exam, I have my sleep study next week. Am I crazy?

Did they already submit?  Your documented weight counts but your height should remain the same so if you go back in to get remeasured....barefoot with your hair down, they should get it correct.  Yes, definitely ask them to change it!

yes, get remeasured if you need to and go with keys, etc in your pockets.  Wish I was 5 feet again, my DH swears I never was, lol.  These days I'm more like 4'10.5".

I'm under the impression that the dr uses the numbers that are most favorable for you, because well... they want to get paid for the surgery. So if you explain your issue, I doubt they'd have a problem remeasuring you.   You have so much riding on this, to them its just a #, and you have a legitimate request & reason.

Good luck!

I'm only 4'11" and I think my first day on the scale at the Drs. office was the first time ever I didn't stand straight and "tall".  Does your insurance go by BMI?  Does the inch make a difference?

Flat hair, barefoot and scrunch down some when they measure you.  Don't get denied over this, tell the surgeon immediately.
