Welcome to our LW Board!!!!

I did not need one.  My PCP signed a paper that I have never had any symptoms of Sleep Apnia.

My surgeon required a sleep study and I was prescribed the C-Pap.  I never could get used to it.  I would use it for a few hours then take it off.  I was having problems sleeping and was prescribed Ambien.  That worked great but my PC didn't like me taking it so I went off it.

I had a second sleep study a couple years ago because I continued to have sleep problems, and no sleep apnea but I do have restless legs.

The sleep studies were miserable.  They put many wires on your head and it's impossible to sleep.  They will talk to you from their work station and ask you to turn over.

I already had a sleep study and was using a Cpac before I decided to pursue surgery.  I was taken off it after surgery and never looked back.  Great to be free from it.

Do you have other comorbidities?   Maybe they are looking for stuff to get your insurance to pay

I was on a very short timeline to be approved for my surgery, so my surgeon said I didn't need one.  He did ask me if I snored, etc I said no.  At that time I wasn't real familiar with comorbidities and what it took to get approved, but I had already been approved.  Throwing the sleep study in (and waiting for the results) would have impacted my surgery date.
