At how many months did your weightloss stop?

At how many months did your weightloss plateau officially? As in you never really lost more weight and you either began maintaining or actually started the dreaded regain. How close to goal were you?

I am so curious what everyone's experiences are. I am 5 months post op and last month I only lost 1 pound. My gut tells me it was just a stall but part of me wonders and worries as I am actually only 10 pounds away from what I was told was the average or expected weightloss of 65 to 70 percent of excess weight lost. So I am approaching the expected zone, but I am also wondering if a lightweight is more likely to lose more than 65-70 percent simply because the overall amount needed to loose is less to start with?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences ?

Congrats on your success so far!

I got to 1 pound from my goal. Weight loss did slow after 5 months, but I continued to lose the first 18 months. Weight loss was never linear for me. Would bounce up and down, then every 2-3 weeks would lose 1 to 2 pounds. Especially when I ate high protein and low carb. (Still true today)

I think lightweights actually may have an easier time getting to or below goal. Not sure what the statistics are

By the 3rd year regain became a real battle. Thank goodness my tool still works!

7 years later, I am 12 pounds away from my original goal. Working on getting there.

Good luck!

I'm 9 1/2 months out and trying to maintain. I lost 2.4lbs last month and so far about 3lbs this month. I never had a stall. I'm currently about 12lbs below my goal.

Eleven months post-op is when I stopped losing. I took 4 months of losing a pound or less towards the end.

I had stalls along the way but don't give in to them too soon and think you are done. Sometimes your body just needs a rest or more Protein to continue. Don't believe the lies that you are too thin. People just aren't used to seeing you that way. Bounce Back is REAL!!!!!!

I am 9 years out with my RNY. My first weigh in at the Drs. office was 203. It took me 8 months to reach my goal of 125 (nice round number). That was a 78 pound lost. My hubby said I lost enough so I promised him I would increase my calories. I didn't lie....I added in 2 more Protein drinks (not food) and when I was 1 year out I had dropped another 11 pounds taking me down to 114.

My 1 year surgiversary I weighed 114 (-89). This time when I promised my hubby I wouldn't loose any more I increased my food calories (protein) but I still continued to drop and eventually got to 103.

My hubby and daughters sat me down and showed me pictures that they had taken of me and I agreed I was looking pretty bad.

So I forced myself to start maintenance. At 2 years out I hit the 118-120 range and I've been there ever since. I feel healthy and I feel the wrinkles I have are from age than losing weight.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Your story mirrors what I've been going through. Surgeons goal was 160 (25 BMI). I blew by that and hit my goal (145) without issue. I increased calories and dropped now to 130. I'm a 20 BMI now and my husband has finally said "Ok, enough. Stop losing". So I'm working on staying here for now.

My lowest weight was 8 pounds away from my own personal goal which is 120 pounds. That took me about 16 months. But since then I have bounced from 132- 140 pounds. With this year being the hardest. I don't think I am plateauing per say, but more likely I have put myself into maintenance. I also exercise quite frequently so though my scale doesn't change often, my clothing still fits pretty good and I am sometimes able to fit into smaller sizes.

You are still pretty early out. I think you will be okay, just keep on keeping on. Sometimes you will have months with crazy big loses and other months you will be lucky to get a pound. In the end it usually evens all out. Congrats on your progress so far!!
