Topic: RE: 6 months out... is this it?
Hi ladies! I have been MIA for a while but here I am needing support. I had my 6 month follow up appt today. Im really about 2 weeks away tho. Im down 70 lbs and feeling great! The health benefits of surgery have exceeded my expectations. Dr said i look great and labs are fabulous. He said to keep doing whatever im doing! :) so here is my concern.... he says that weight loss will slow down now (i think it already has) and i may not lose anymore. What is your experience with this? I am at the drs goal weight but not my goal weight. I was hoping to lose at least another 10 pounds. My ideal weight is 126 and i am at 140. 136 would get me out of the overweight catagory tho. So tell me, did you keep losing after 6 months? How much regain did you have? Is this it? Thanks so much guys!!!
    Topic: RE: failure already? ??
I told myself that I wouldn't do this but here I am, doing it! On Tuesday I will be two weeks post op RNY. They did not weigh me the morning of surgery so my best guess is 206 - 209 for pre surgery weight. I am 195 today. Is this good? The scale hasn't moved in a few days. Any thoughts? The doc said he thought I might get down to 140 but I am really hoping for more. I'm only 5'2! TIA
    Topic: RE: FINALLY!!!!
Congratulations Danielle! I'm scheduled for RNY on 11/27. I'm 5'2 and about 210. How about you? Where are you located?
    Topic: RE: FINALLY!!!!
I finally have a surgery date!  11/27 :o)  My BMI isn't very high so they said I could have prot every other day and on Thanksgiving even tho I should be on a liquid diet.  Can't get better than that!!
Topic: RE: Introduction and a few questions
I am having RNY because I have high cholesterol, am diabetic and have a very strong family history of heart disease.  They said the malabsorption would be good for me.  My sister-in-law had VSG (no comorbidities) and she has done FANTASTIC.  I dont think that you lose slower... I think there just isn't as many years of information on VSG as RNY.  Good luck with your decision!  I dont really think there is a wrong answer. :o)
Topic: RE: New to this forum!
I'm a type 1 diabetic but haven't had surgery yet.  I'm hoping to really reduce my insulin quite a bit.  I hope eventyally you get off all of your meds!  Good luck!!
Topic: RE: What am I missing?
I woule LOVE to be included in this!  What do you need from me?
Topic: RE: What am I missing?
Thanks for the info :o)  I can't seem to get the plastics board to work... When I go there, I can't see posts, just info about plastics...it's odd.
Topic: RE: What am I missing?
I totally agree with you... I can name the people that seem to be so nasty... I don't get it.  I lurk over there but don't post much.  The RNY one CAN be that way at times also but it's a select few... IMHO.
    Topic: RE: KESA85...
    Glad to hear it!
Topic: RE: What am I missing?
So, i have been posting and researching and hanging around OH for around 6 months. I generally look at the message boards for diabetes, lightweights, RNY, and the main forum. Im missing stuff... where else should i be looking? Someone mentioned "angels" the other day and in all this time i had never heard of that. Someone else mentioned that major mom has a forum or blog or something? I tried to look at the plastics forum but i cant seem to get it to work right. Anyone have any advice..... how would i find this info? I feel like i have missed a chapter in a book! Lol
    Topic: RE: KESA85...
     How are you feeling?
    Topic: RE: Update post op
I'm so glad to hear you are doing well!  I will be in your shoes in a few months!  Can I ask how old you are and how tall you are? You have the same goal set that my doctor has for me.  Can't wait to see your progress!!
Topic: RE: Lightweights About to Have Surgery...Read
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Topic: RE: pic request.... pretty please!
Thank you all so much.  It really helps to see these!  A new co-worker of mine said that people who *only* have 60-100 lbs to lose shouldn't have weight loss surgery.  She used to work at a WLS surgery center.... maybe that is why she doesn't work there anymore! ;o)   Have any of you had or needed any plastics done?
Topic: RE: pic request.... pretty please!
I would love to see some before and after pics of our lightweights... im hoping to have surgery in october. I see lots of pics that seem outdated but i would really like to see people like me. Anybody able to share?
    Topic: RE: weight loss

Topic: RE: Two Years Today! X Post
Congratulations! I respect and look up to you for all that you have accomplished and been thru.
    Topic: RE: weight loss
So, when I went to one of the seminars I attended, I was told that I shouldn't expect to be smaller than I have ever been. She said if you have never been a size 4, don't think you will be one after surgery.  Do you think this is true?  I don't need to be a size four but I would love to be smaller than a 12. :(

Nikki.... What you are feeling is what I understand everyone feels.  Don't get down on yourself for not being able to do something that you haven't beeeeeeeeeeeeen able to do!  That is why you are having surgery!  I have faith in you.... if you are going to do anything, learn to chew, sip and don't drink with our meals... that will help more with your goal than this other stuff.

    Topic: RE: /silly question
Thanks guys... I've been sitting in 100 degree weather for over a week and gulping down water... I kept thinking "wow, will i be able to do this after surgery?".
Topic: RE: Pre op pics! Whooa
U are getting so close! U should post ur pics for us when u r comfortable. This area is full of helpful nonjudgemental people! What is ur surgery date again? What is ur goal weight?
Topic: RE: Checking in 4 years post op :)
Hi courtney.... im still pre op! Rny in two months or so.
    Topic: RE: /silly question
Why wont i be able to do more than sip liquids after surgery? Is our stomach too sensitive? Is it too small? Will i ever be able to get a "normal" drink or a big gulp on a hot day?
