Topic: RE: Menus and Miles Tuesday May 21st

I have had a young lady riding her some but I think she was happy to be the star for today.  Just finished the garden.  Planted the beans, asperagus beans and beets.  That should be it.  Flower pots are done.

I liked the cheddar rolls best toasted with cheese.  It made a good quick breakfast that I could carry on the road.

It is so hard to imagine.  I thank God I don't live in one of those areas that have such distructive weather.  My prayers are with them.

I rode Poppy this morning for the first time in months  since I have been trying to get Halley ready to compete.  It was good.  I want to get the rest of the garden finished today and still have payroll to do.  Busy day.

Need to make some more carbquick cheddar rolls and I want to try the cinnamon rolls too.

Topic: RE: WLS and the M-word

Welcome to the LWs.  Congrats on your upcoming surgery.  I love my RNY.  I was 61 and had a hysterectomy years before so I don't know about the M stuff.  But the weight fell off me.  It is common to have mood swings and emotions when you do WLS because hormones are stored in fat and released when you lose weight.  My surgeon suggested everyone go on a antidepressant for the first 6 months or so.  I never had been on one before but I did go on it and I think it helped.  Around 6 months, I weaned off it and have been fine since (DH may say differently).

good for your nut in getting you off soda and caffeine.  That is a great start.  Also, stop drinking with your meals.  Best to be in that habit now.  I also thought decarbing was helpful.

Hope to see more of you as you proceed through your journey.

Topic: RE: Good morning. Midwest LWs, check in please

I was in Ky all weekend away from news.  Hope everyone is ok.  We had big storms all around us but the rain held off until nights after the Thursday storms.

I'm planning on a calm week.  Back to normal exercise classes, Halley gets some time off and Poppy is going to get ridden .  My seeds came so I can finish planting my garden.  Not many meetings this week, hurray.

As ususal, Gina is right, just don't screw up the final day, whatever they have told you to do then.  Most folks are on clear liquids then so the system is clean for surgery.  Stay clean then.

When is your surgery again?  Want to cheer you on cyberly.  wink

are you in a normal BMI?  How long have you been around 136-139?  Some folks have pretty long stalls.  Also, if you are happy eating like you are, then just keep on keeping on.  You may be at maintainance, or you may still lose.  But keeping on keeping on doesn't hurt anything and may help.

After my knee surgery, I bought some over the counter water pills from the health food store.  I think they helped.  I may try them again.  I have a sock line on my legs no matter what kind of socks I wear because of fluid.

Topic: RE: The Head Games We Play

I give up on setting weight goals.  When I try to get back to 120, I stand still at 124.  Then when I think I will just be happy at 124, I go down to 122.  I have been gone so no weigh in this morning but I am interested to see what it will be tomorrow.  At this point, my goal is to eat clean, exercise and stay healthy.

Topic: RE: What the new doc said...

Everyone has an opinion and that is ok.  I think we can take those opinions and make decisions for ourselves.  I know that I couldn't keep my protein levels up without shakes.  Or maybe I could if I ate only protein 6x a day, which I can't do.  Protein drinks don't fill me up any more than any other liquid or sliders like yogurt but with them, I can keep my level up.

I don't know about the eating fast or slow.  Eating too fast is a problem but so it eating too slowly.  I can eat a bunch more if I stretch it out and that isn't good.  Too fast and I can get too full before I realize it.  There has to be a happy inbetween.

Topic: RE: OT- scheduled for SI joint pins June 12th 2013

I had hoped that loosing 100lbs would make my knee better and it didn't.  It made me more active so it hurt more and I couldn't take NSAIDS.  I only had 1 replaced, not both but it really did set me on my butt.  I did all the PT and worked a lot in the water, then as I could got into exercise more than I every have.  Well, actually since I stopped running.  Maybe they will let you go in the water.  My gym has a therapy pool that is warm and it was great.  I thought I would gain but actually I lost.  I think chronic pain made the loss and I know that doesn't make sense but it is all I can say caused it.  I was at my lowest rehabing from my knee replacement.

Topic: RE: 6 months out... is this it?

At 5 months, I had a real slowdown.  I found that if I stayed at 30 or less net carbs, I still lost at least a pound a week and I went below my goal.  I kept losing for a year.  Some folks it takes longer but the RNY honeymoon is 18 months so you have time to lose it.  I did bounce back up but keep on keeping on and you will make it.  Bounce back is real and you want to have a little room for it.  So just keep on keeping on.  It will happen.  And really, you are going to keep on keeping on for ever because that is what maintainance is all about.

    Topic: RE: More Newbie Questions...

One of the things no one has mentioned is that hormones are stored in fat and as you lose fat, you release hormones and your mood swings are all over the place.  My surgeon suggested everyone go on an antidepressant for 6 months to help with that.  Lots of folks have horrific mood swings after surgery and that could be playing into you issues.
