caffeine really makes my belly hurt. Not nauseous and I don't throw it up but it hurts. It is probably my ulcer that does it. My surgeon instructs his patients to avoid caffeine but I know most don't. I didn't until I got the ulcer.

Just reading your menus is making me hungry. I have had NADA today. Doing the dreaded prep for upper and lower scope in the morning. Hopefully we will get a plan for healing my ulcer and find out why I go from diarrhea to constipation and back again!

    Carry on.

We ate on the run all day today which makes eating healthy hard!

First pulled thru Micky D's on the way to the Home and Remodeling Show. I chose:

Egg McMuffin--I threw away all but 1/2 of the top of the english muffin--guess that would mean I ate 1/4th of an english muffin.

Protein drink in car on the way to show

Lunch at Fazoli's. Try to eat low carb there. I ordered chicken and pepper penne then picked out almost all of the penne and ate the chicken and peppers as well as a side salad.

Then we went to see THE HUNGER GAMES! Loved the book and really liked the movie.  Snuck a protein shake into the movie and drank it while hubby at buttery popcorn. The rat fink!

Dinner ar home (finally)  Cottage cheese pancakes

Then I made my first protein ice cream of the season--Yummy!

I liked About Time pretty well for creamy protein. I think they are without artificial colorings also.
Topic: RE: Cheating on my pre-op diet!
Great advice so far. I cheated on my preop diet until the last 4 days but I think having already gone through the carb withdrawal was helpful. Other than that it was torture. Congratulations on making the decision for WLS. Good luck on Friday and we will scoot down.

Just ordered a bunch of samples from Vitalady. Wish I had ordered that one now. I really don't like eating the same one over and over and almost never complete a tub.I love samples as I can change the flavor frequently. Just haven't found one I absolutely love although I like lots of them.
Topic: RE: Would you pay for surgery if insurance didn't?
Do check into insurance for complications or what your surgeon offers. My surgeon offers BLIS insurance to cover complications that might arise that your insurance company won't pay for if they didn't cover your surgery. Here is the link http://www.bliscompany.com/. I would hate for you to pay the amount for the surgery and then have to pay for any complications.

Didn't get all my protein in this day. I was teaching new graduate RNs in a clinical simulation all day. I brought my lunch because I figured most people would order out unhealthy. I was right about that. What I didn't  count on was being so busy I couldn't have my between meal protein drinks. I was lucky to get lunch at all. Luckily most days aren't like this. Thanks for asking.

    Topic: RE: Hormones question
    Christine,
I am a little older than you at 54 and had a hysterectomy 18 months ago. Prior to that I had already gone thru menopause I thought as I hadn't had a period in over a year.  As a result we went ahead and took my overies with the uterus. Afterward I had menapusal symptoms again.
I just had my hormones all tested with by saliva. I had to spit in a tube 4 times in one day. I am so confused about the results and am not sure that they are just not trying to sell me something. You are about the same time frame out from your RNY as I am and I am having some trouble maintaining and especially dealing with belly fat and saddlebags. Always cold, dry skin and hair and fatigue. My thyroid is also OK.
Now, while the lab that did my hormone testing is a legit lab and the same one my doctor used in 07, the results were being shared with me by Metabolic Research Center. I have been going there to help me with my weight loss as they use a high protein diet.  I just am not sure that they are not trying to sell me their cortisol fighting medication as well as their progesterone creme.
My estrogen is very low but my progesterone is normal. How can that be estrogen dominant? I have so much research to do. Please keep me informed of what you find out and I will do the same for you if you want. PM me and we can keep in touch. Sounds like we are dealing with similar issues.

One good thing about being a bedside nurse is when you are off duty, you are off duty, Of course as Italian Spice says, they are always begging for us to work more. Almost every day off I get I am awakened at 0430 or 0500 to see if I can work extra. Because I am old, I can rarely go back to sleep. We are also getting texts all day about how short we are going to be if we don't work extra.

Topic: RE: Best problem I've had in a while
Wow Tonya, isn't it funto have this kind of problem. You have gotten some really good advice. The consignment stores got to know me while I was losing. I came in and sold back things I had gotten there just a few weeks earlier.
I agree that not keeping larger sizes around is a good idea. That way if any clothes start to get tight you can't just grab the bigger ones. Wearing scrubs almost everyday is what got me in trouble.
Do pick one of your big pair of pants to keep to remember what size you were. I made that mistake. I got rid of everything and don't have something to demonstrate how much smaller I am.
It has been somewhat challenging to branch out and choose closer fitting and more stylish things asmy size went down.

    Topic: RE: Rebound question
I maiantained nicely for 2.5 years. Then I had regain of 15 pounds. Not because of my tool. I quit running and started eating more and more calories and carbs. It isn't a mystery. If I had kept running and controlling my intake, I don't think I would have had any regain.

The really sweet ones I couldn't drink right after surgery. You mightn like it better later. I still think that one is still too sweet. I mix lemonade with it to make it less sweet. I suggest buying lots of different samples before buying a big tub of anything as tastes change in the first few months after surgery.

    1. We don't celebrate St.Paddy's personally but Kansas City has the second largest parade in the country. I worked today and we started getting the idiots that drank theirselves silly by 10 am. I don't think we are Irish. Lots of german and english.

    2. The weather is definitely springs. Been sleeping with the windows open all week. Forsythia and magnolia trees are in bloom and I am starting to sniff, sniff from my allergies.

    3. With warm weather the farmer markets will open and I will get fresher veggies. I also tend to eat more raw food. I have already increased my excercise. It is so much more fun to run outside than on a treadmill.
