Hi! I'm about 7 weeks into the process and have met almost all of my pre-op goals. Still have some hoops to jump through, but things are looking pretty good. Hope you are all getting closer to approval!
I have passed my stress test. Now, my GP has to get the results. ;)
Then, he will sign the OHIP papers and I will fax them off.
I have written my personal letter.
I have shared my surgery with my friends and family that ARE supportive. I have 'kept' my surgery from non-supporters.
My hope is to have my surgery in the Spring. Due to scheduling issues.
I am just starting the whole process. I attend my first siminar Dec. 8th in Columbia MO at the regional hospital. I have a twin sister that had the surgery 4 years ago in St Louis MO. She now lives in Columbia so she is trying to help me as much as possible. A plus is she works at a hospital billing insurance and medicaid and medicare. So i hope i can get approved fast and get this started. Does anyone have a good surgeon in Columbia Mo that they would recommend.
I'm trying to get everything ready for weight loss surgery. Just need to get approved from Ins. I here it can be hard to get approved. I just need to get a Pulmonary Clearance which shouldn't be a problem.
Hang in there baby rabbit. I to am new to the whole process and hope to get approval and get the lap banc. My daughter just got it last week and has recoved very well from the surgery. She's doing great and I'm sure she will lose a lot of weight within the coming year. If she can do it, you and I can do it too. Sherwood
I have been fighting for over 2 years to get my surgery done. In the past every time it seemed like I was getting close there was always a new mountain for me to have to climb. I have found a new Doctor now and things are looking up, I am praying that I am almost through climbing. If there is anyone that has or is going through the same struggle as I have , Please reply. I would love to talk with someone who understands.
I didn't realize until just now how much work and time is put into this. I guess, I thought it was like other surgeries. You go to the doctor, he says you need it, so ya get it. I'm ready to fight the fight! Glad there is support and good info here!
I have gone thru most of the steps to get approved. I have 1 month left in my 6 months dr. supervised weight loss and then I submit everything to the insurance company. This nex month or 2 is going to feel long waiting. I am hoping to have it done before the end of the year.
Hi everyone, I am new to the site and was hoping someone could help guide me in getting montana medicaid to approve some type of weight control surgery for me. I weigh 290 lbs. I have major back problems, diabetes, thyroid problems and who knows what else at this point in time. I am so depressed about my health and everything i am in tears most days. A few months ago my dr reffered me to a surgeon for lap band, and i was told that medicaid wont pay for it since i am over 21. diets dont work, i kept a log of my activities and food intake and i burn on average just over 1,000 more calories than i take in yet cant lose weight. Im sure a lot of it has to do with all the meds i am on for my back and everything.
the last neurosurgeon i saw for my back told me to get weight control surgery, and i told him what i was told.
can some one help guide me in what i need to do to get approved by montana medicaid? I am 43 yrs old, and female, and so tired of being fat and tired.
I had my psych eval, met with nutritionist, went to Bariatric seminar, had surgeon consult, completed my lab work and cardiac clearance, I am using my cpap machine everyday, I lost 10 pounds, signed up for support group meeting next month. I think I have done everything so hopefully it won't be long. I am so scared but yet so ready. My friends and family support me and my daughters also.
