To dr Saucededa patients, twilight sedation

I read on his website that he uses twilight sedation   For his plastic surgery procedures. (IV sedation and not general) is this true?  Can you please weigh in on this? Let me know how you did? Where you totally unaware during the procedure

I was out, I think I may have felt some tugging on the arm, but it didn't last long and it didn't hurt.  I woke up in the OR, then was back out, then came really awake in recovery.  Dr S was there saying who do you want to call.  I gave him my sister's cell # and he called and I talked to my mom, then he called my daughter.  I was awake and functioning.  Didn't feel sick.  I was back in my room by 930pm.

I know others woke up and then were put back out.  Mrs Dr S really watches you.  As Dr S does one procedure, before he starts on the next, Mrs Dr S checks all your vitals to make sure it's ok to proceed to the next and so on.

The epi and twilight was so much easier on my body than general.  Only way to go for me!

I have had twilight sedation with Dr. Sauceda twice. Its the only way to go. I have no recollection and did not wake up either time. I had absolutely no problems postoperatively.
 Thank you for your responses!
Please keep them coming

I haven't had the twilight and epidural yet with Dr. S but I have had it for other procedures and it was one of the main reasons I chose Dr. S.  General anesthesia is just so hard on the body and I knew I didn't want to go through that for an elective surgery.

I woke up during my facelift. I remember listening to everyone talking, but it was in Spanish.  I felt something stick my face so I said ouch.  Dr. Sauceda said he was just giving me more sedative and to go back to sleep.  So I did.

I was so afraid of the epidural so Dr. Mrs. Sauceda put me to sleep first.  They are all so considerate and listen to our fears and concerns.

I loved the twighlight. Waking up after 13 hours of bodywork I felt pretty good. I stayed up all night on my iPad and watching movies. I didn't go to sleep until 7pm the next night.  I hope I never have to have a General again.

I have Malignant Hyperthermia.  Finding Dr S and his epidural was a dream come true for me!  Anesthesiologists cringe when I walk in an outpatient facility.  My Lapband surgery was cancelled AFTER I was already in the OR because of my MH.

I woke up a few times.  It was when a mom is awake during a C-section.  You feel nothing - you can speak and they talk back with you.  I asked what he was doing.  He said, "finishing your arms."...

after surgery you wake up - like you wake from a nap.  Rested!

For  me, I slept all of it... Thanks God.  However, I was sick during the first night (pucking).  I always reacted badly to ANY medications or sedatives.

As for the epidural,...   they put me asleep BEFORE  I received it.  Thanks to Dr S`s wife.

Hello Surgery Sister Suzanne!
So good to see you!  I remember after your surgery.  I felt so sad for you because I knew your tummy wasn't so good.  I always get violently ill with general, but I was fine with the epidural.  I did get very nauseated with my facelift, but I am not sure why.  I have a feeling it was because the pain was so intense.

Give your Hubby Rene a BIG HELLO from me!

Allo Sister Dee,   Yep I am nauseated for any sedatives.  I just had my colonoscopy with  sedative (Valium) the nurse said.   After the procedure, they had a hard time to wake me
up, and for 2 days, I felt numbed fingers and feet.  For sure I could not drive my car.  I rested at home for 4 days to recuperated.   Now I am ready for this MX trip for my hubby.
I am  glad that he choose Dr Alvarez. Dr S recommanded him to us.

I still have my lap band and I will probably have it removed next year with Dr Alvarez.
I am hungry and it does not really work much anymore. I am stable at 153 (this morning).
But it scared me each time that I feel hungry.   So one thing at the time, and this time it is my hubby turns.

I read to him your message and he said hello to you too.   He finds this website is fun and shows positive attitude from all of us.  Maybe next year, if it is during July or August,
we would be able to meet again with the Sauceda`s ex-patients :)   What a nice souvenir
for us !

Take care Siste Dee,

Madame Suzanne :)
The only time I ever had surgery before was my lap band. Just waking up was so hard. I remember how much effort it was to even say a word. My friend drove me home, a 4 hour drive, and I probably only said 2 words. But totally different with the twilight. I I want bursting with energy, but I felt somewhat normal. I think I was wheeled into my room at 8 or 9 that night. I kept asking the nurses if they wanted me to walk around. They kept saying tomorrow, just rest. I didn't know I had a catheter. I thought I was supposed to walk that night. But I guess I felt god enough to do it. I did wake up both procedures. The first one I think I just opened my eyes, thn Ty put me back out. Then with my neck surgery, I could feel them washing my hair or something. But no pain, and I didnt hear or see anything.
This anesthesia worked so well for me. I have a horrible time with general.
I have no recollection of the spinal, or any of the surgery, I did not hear anything or feel anything. I barely remember talking to my husband afterward.
It really is the best was to go, I never want a general again!

Hi there,

I had surgery on Thursday.  I have (like most) a tough time with general anesthesia.  The epidural and twightlight are fantastic.  It really is like waking up after a good nap (and an awesome body!).

I had 12 hours of surgery.  I didn't wake during surgery (that I recall).

Don't think twice!  Go for it.

I had my surgery 2 years ago. I did not wake up at all and was very comfortable. I had brought extra pain meds with me just in case I needed them and I have to tell you I did not need them at all. I had a lower body lift and inner thigh lift and barely experienced any pain whatsoever. The recovery time was much quicker than I expected and it was a wonderful experience. The biggest problem I got was a bladder infection but that happens. Twilight sedation was awesome.

I did great with the twilight and epidural.  I was out in about 2 seconds after she put a mask over my face.  Not even time to start counting!   I wouldn't have gone to Mexico for surgery if it were general anesthesia - I have breathing problems with epidural.  I did throw up for the 1st 12 hours or so after surgery but it didn't bother my stomach at all because Dr S said the epidural lasts about 30 hours.   I woke up about 4 or 5 times and I could hear things but couldn't tell what they were doing to me.  The last time I woke up, I tried laying there quietly thinking I might be able to tell what area they were working on, but I never could tell what they were doing.  As soon as I opened my eyes, she had me right out.
